RE: Ebay problems - sent wrong item

Seems seller will refund my item and original P&P but wont refund my cost to return the item. If I dispute this will I get this back through Ebay? Seller says not.

Cheers

RE: Ebay problems - sent wrong item

Thanks, thought that would be the case.

Ebay problems - sent wrong item

Hi, have you come across this scenario before?

I bought an item from ebay which turns out to be a different version and in pretty poor condition.
Seller wants me to pay for both delivery charges even though he misrepresented the item (albeit innocently).

Your thoughts?

Cheers

RE: Got a free SKY+ box last night, want one?

How come there was no £10 per month sky+ subscription? Might have to go for this if it`s free but I`ll have to find a good home for my beloved TiVO :)

RE: Pet Hates.

Any, any 118 118 advert.

RE: PS3 Still in stock at Argos!!

Price is a factor but it takes a while to sell 220,000 consoles.

RE: POLL: What Beer (including stout ) or Lager Tastes The best?

Tribute (or Daylight Robbery during the eclipse a few years back) from St Austell brewery

RE: Best way to keep cats off yer garden?

cocktail sticks slightly buried in the ground. A bit more labour intensive but shouldn`t take too long if the area is small. Highly effective and the only thing that worked for me.
Heard some recommendations for crushed mothballs, no idea where you could get them from though.

Damn, scraped my car

What a frickin` idiot.
Out on Saturday night for some sushi and park next to a pillar in the underground car park. it was a bit of a narrow space but nothing I haven`t parked in a hundred times before.
Take a look in my near side mirror and thought `sh*t that was close, just stopped in time`. Inspection of my near side rear wheel arch told a different story, it was scraped down to the white undercoat. Looking at the state of 90% of the pillars in that car park I wasn`t the first to leave my nice metallic paint on one and certainly wont be the last.
It`s a 2000 VW Passat in dark metallic (I know, I know) blue and I don`t really want to remortgage the house to have it done by VW but I guess this is beyond a `chips away` type business and I need a body shop? Would they respray the whole rear wing?

RE: Okay How can a lady read men?

A good example she likes him but he is very quiet, does that mean he isn`t interested at all, and he is being quiet about it?

I`m sure some people can read others, I can`t. Only way to do it is to talk.
It avoids this scenario:
She likes him, he likes her, they laugh and joke but he doesn`t/can`t do anything about it at the time.
He sees her the next day and overnight she`s turned into the she-devil from hell.

So what the hell happened there?
Maybe she just wanted my body - hell, I can live with that :)

RE: Automatic car washers -safe for metallics?

Cheers for that.
Looks like my car`s going to be a bit cleaner from now on.

Automatic car washers -safe for metallics?

Haven`t used one in years and it looks like they use soft rubber now instead of bristles.
I normally jet wash but it would be handy to throw it through when I don`t have enough time.

RE: which proccessor????????

Hi Dave,
Well assuming that both machines have similar specs, 1gb of RAM is really a minimum these days, I`d see no reason not to go with the dual core AMD.

What make is the laptop with the dual core?

Cheers

RE: which proccessor????????

What do you want to do with it?

Turion x2 is a 64bit chip and double core
Core Duo is a 32bit chip and double core - Core 2 Duo is Intels 64bit chip.

The current `affordable` speed demon until the quad core chips are released is the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (4Mb cache) £199, with the cheaper E6400 and E6300 coming in a close second with 2MB cache.
The E6420 and E6320 are released in the second quater of 2007 and these are the same chips as the E6400/E6300 but with 4MB of cache for the same price.

Wikipedia has a good section on chips all chip types.

RE: "British" World War 2 Games

Only ones I`ve seen that feature British forces also include US and Russian.
Soldiers, Heroes of WWII and its sequal, Faces of War have these.

RE: What was your first ever computer??

Vic 20, C64 and then Amiga 500.

Couldn`t afford the BBC Micros back then (£400) but fancied building the Electron, you could get the kit for just over £100. Did anyone build their own? How difficult was it?

RE: Pan`s Labyrinth - nowhere to be seen

Awesome film.

Apparantly the film got a 20 minute standing ovation at Cannes.

RE: Pan`s Labyrinth - nowhere to be seen

It`s on at the Kingston Odeon if anyone`s trying to find it in the South East. Dunno what the cinema is like but at least it`s practically next door to my favourite sushi bar.

RE: So... what are you playing just now?

PSP
Daxter, wouldn`t have bought it but it was £10 from Pcworld (thanks bargain buckets). Great game, graphics are amazing for a handheld.

Vice City Stories

PES 5

PS2
ICO - still haven`t finished it

Shadow of the Colossus - waiting to finish ICO

RE: Does anyone know a Prudence??

I knew a Posie once, but not intimately :)

RE: Safari Holidays

I`ve been to Kenya although it was a good 10+ years ago, stayed in a place on the coast near Mombasa and had a fantastic time.
Decided to take a 4 day safari when we were there, I`m sure its cheaper to book ahead though. We went to Tsavo national parks (cant remember if it was West or East Tsavo), camped in the foothills of Kilimanjaro (get up early to see the snow capped peak - it`s always covered in cloud otherwise) with it`s own lake and resident fish eagle
The safari we used a lot of the old game lodges for amazing food, views and the pool but the best was staying one night in Salt Lick which is a hotel on stilts overlooking a watering hole.
Managed to see Elephant, Giraffe and a group of Lion devouring a recently killed Zebra. Also at Salt Lick a group of us saw a cheatah take a gazelle of some kind - amazing.

The poverty in Kenya was a bit of a shock, we took pens for the local school (not sweets as the kids cant get dental treatment even though they begged us for some) and everyone wants t-shirts, socks - anything basically. Most of us gave away a lot of holiday stuff when we left.

Keep your head about you if you venture out alone - we had an issue with a couple of Somalies which could`ve turned really nasty but that`s only `cos we did something dumb on the way to the crocodile park but a trip into Mombassa to see the old town and port went without a problem
Kenyans are very nice people everyone says "jumbo" (hello) to you. Thanks is "asante" and thank you very much is "asante sana".

BTW - the sun as you`d expect near the equator is viscious. We went in the Autumn and it was hot! so high summer might be too much. If you go on safari take a hat, one with a brim (I bought a soft safari bush hat in Mombassa) to keep the sun out of your eyes and off your head.

RE: No Entry? Pah! That`s for cissies...

I dont understand, why is something that works effectively a bad thing?

I was in a phone shop in town buying a new phone on a weekday morning, the rush hour had been and gone and it was relatively quiet. Suddenly a car went by with its engine screaming probably in first gear and chased by a woman running behind shouting for everyone to get out of the way. The car mounted the pavement and crashed through all the bollards protecting the pavement as if they weren`t there at all, it just snapped them at the base. It finally stopped, its next destination would have been in the foyer of the shopping centre across a potentially crowed pedestrian high street.
Tragically it seems that the guy driving had suffered a heart attack and was unconcious, the woman chasing the car was his wife.
Amazed no one was killed that day.

RE: No Entry? Pah! That`s for cissies...

Quote:
That is SO funny. No sympathy whatsoever. Loved the airbag dude.

I hope the council billed them for the damage to the bollards. Numpties the lot of `em.

RE: Which wireless routers to get

Quote:
I started with a 3Com wireless router, and although it set up fairly easily it kept going wrong and I was forever downloading the firmware to reset the damn thing. In the end I sent it back and got a Netgear DG834G, which has worked perfectly since the day I set it up. That`s about 5 months now, I think.

It`s got a built in modem, plus it`s firewalled. Very simple set up screens. What more can I say?

Another vote for the Netgear. I`ve been using mine for a couple of years and no problems at all.
