PCs & Mobiles Forum
hi guys me again :-/
OK I have a choice here of 3 different proccessors, Intel celeron 1.7 GHZ, Intel Core Duo, or AMD Turion 64x2...............
opinions pleease, someone said the celeron is dated, but its still used a lot

RE: which proccessor????????
What do you want to do with it?
Turion x2 is a 64bit chip and double core
Core Duo is a 32bit chip and double core - Core 2 Duo is Intels 64bit chip.
The current `affordable` speed demon until the quad core chips are released is the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (4Mb cache) £199, with the cheaper E6400 and E6300 coming in a close second with 2MB cache.
The E6420 and E6320 are released in the second quater of 2007 and these are the same chips as the E6400/E6300 but with 4MB of cache for the same price.
Wikipedia has a good section on chips all chip types.
wow, you`ve lost me, lol.....sorry i should have explained, its for a laptop which i am buying I have a choice of the dell with the AMD 64x2, or my local pc guy (which i would rather use for free support etc) who is offering the fujitsu with the intel celeron 1.7 GHZ. they are both same price really
I will be using for word proccessing mainly for my wife and for me surfing the net and prob watching DVD`s as well, not much if any gameplay as we use the desktop for that.

RE: which proccessor????????
Hi Dave,
Well assuming that both machines have similar specs, 1gb of RAM is really a minimum these days, I`d see no reason not to go with the dual core AMD.
What make is the laptop with the dual core?
Cheers
Its the Dell 6400 mid priced machine 2GB ram , the celeron chip gets really slated, and dual core seems to be the way forward these days
Cheers Dave
