Which JVC to replace AV32X37

I have a JVC AV32X37 which my 2 year old (nearly didn`t make it to 3 !) son has trashed but fortunately my insurance is going to replace it. I have been told that the AV32X4 is the replacement as mine isn`t made anymore.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good replacement. I have compared specs on JVC site and they are basically the same (32" widescreen, 100mhz etc) but I don`t know if there is any other way to compare them.

Thanks Bobby S - I opted for the pacific 1002w from Asda in the end as they didn`t have the 1001 in stock. The 1002W is good - it is multiregion from the box and plays -R which were my main requirements.

Anyone heard on TEDELEX

Richer Sounds have some TE118 machines - has anyone ever heard of them ? Do you know what they will play (-r, +r), are they multi-region etc. They are about £50 I think but I don`t know if they are worth a try. Any help appreciated.

My warranty that came with a Wharfedale 750S in Dec 02 also has the 50%, 30% & 20% split for 1, 2 and 3 years. I was going to take it back for £60 but the kids have broken the draw flap. The warranty says the goods must be in "very good condition" - has anyone got any money back for a dvd that is damaged ??

Pacific 1001/1002 or Xenius 2030 ???

I am after a player for the kids room. I want one that will play both -r & +r but am not too bothered about overall picture quality or if its a bit noisy. I think they are all around £35 - £45 so not much to choose between them on price. Which one of these should I go for.

RE: Problems Playing Copied DVDs on Wharfedale 750S

I have a similar problem - the 750s recognises the disc, the sound is fine but the picture is all over the place with black dashes at the top left of the screen. The picture is clear in 2X, 4X both forwards and backwards but there is obviously no sound.

Is there anything I can do to play these -R discs ? other than change the player.

Parental Lock - Wharfedale 750s

Can anyone help. I have set the password as per the manual and the padlock shows as closed, the rating is set to "kids only".

I have tried LA Confidential rated R region 1, Terminator rated 15 Region 2 and Harry Potter rated PG region 2.

It plays them all without asking for password.
Suggestions please.

Acoustic Solutions 451 - Problems please help

I have had the 451 for just over 2 months and it has played all regions, cds and mp3`s without a problem but tonight it has stopped playing everything. I have tried switching off and on and unplugging it but it still doesn`t work. The motor is spinning but only for a second or two then it cuts out and tries again but never runs for more than a couple of seconds.

Is this fatal ? If so can I get a replacement from Richer Sounds or does it have to go off for repair ? Anyone had a problem like this that Richer Sounds have dealt with ??

This may already be known by you guys but I overheard two Sainsburys staff talking about the "new offer" available from tomorrow (Weds). This is 2 DVDs for £25 providing one of them is Star Wars AOTC.

Can guarantee this is going to happen but I did ask them and they confirmed that I had heard correctly.

I wouldn`t mind if fireworks were just sold to responsible adults but they are not. There has to be more control to stop kids getting them and letting them off at all hours and for weeks and weeks on end.
I enjoy taking my kids to organised displays so I don`t want them banned and if individuals want to let them off then shouldn`t we restrict the sales so they are only available for a week before and after.
My dog is a quivering wreck for about 4 weeks every year - he has to be sedated or the vet says he will die of shock. I know this is extreme and not many dogs are this bad but this time of year is hell for him.

Thanks Blodwin. I couldn`t find the right page on their site but I rang them. Placed the order Monday lunchtime and it arrived Tuesday morning. £7.50 inc vat and postage. Works perfectly. Thats what I call good service. They do remotes for almost all TVs. Andy.

Remote for Goodmans 14" Portable

I have just (rather stupidly) bought a secondhand Goodmans 14" portable colour TV without a remote. It works OK through the scart but I can`t tune it in to anything via arial or to a video.

Does anyone know if it`s possible to tune it without a remote as there are no buttons on it.

Or does anyone just happen (as you do) to have kept a remote for a goodmans that their no longer using.

Any help would stop me having to sell it again.

On the 451 the 4000 / 4001 option is macrovision on / off, 3000 / 3001 is parental control on / off but I don`t know what the 5000 / 5001 option does.
You could try it and see if you have a RCE disk.
Let me know - I dont have a rce disk.

from previous posts in this thread and others I have assumed that the 225 is the same spec as the 224 and the 224 plays vcd and svcd. So it should.

Thanks Mark, for the info and for the reply to Craig`s rather straight laced suggestion. I too do not intend using it to deliberately break the law rather just to avoid getting points and a fine when cameras are deliberately hidden in places to generate cash rather than reduce accidents.
