RE: Sony 20gb portable music player £149.99

I opted for the Archos Gmini XS200 from Blokesstuff.com It supports MP3 and WMA, is tiny and easy to use.

RE: The Windows XP SP2 Thread

I decided to give SP2 a go yesterday. When it went to restart the computer after the installation was complete, it resulted in a fatal exception error and a nice blue screen. After 5 or 6 restarts I eventually got back into XP where the installation was completed.

However, Windows Media Player was not working and McAfee didn`t seem to like the new AV software. I decided to try a restart in the hope that these issues would be resolved. Again it took a number of restarts - failing at different stages, until I got back in. This was when I decided to restore back to my save point - I hope everyone makes a restoration point prior to installing SP2.

After the restore, I still had a number of problems restarting my machine, so in the end went back to an earlier save point (about 3 weeks ago) and everything now seems fine. All of this took around 1 1/2 hours!

I would agree that if you already have AV and a firewall, you should leave SP2 well alone.

RE: L`Oreal free prize draw....£2 CDWow voucher minimum prize...

Received a voucher to each of my two hotmail accounts. Used them with the avforums link so £2.75 off each purchase. Thanks to the original poster.

RE: Pizza Express - Awesome!!!

Went to Ask! today. Very good pizza and not too expensive either.

To be honest I have found Pizza Express to be a lot nicer than Pizza Hut, the atmosphere is better too, less kids scoffing free ice cream. I highly reccomend the one in Wapping, it is handy for two great pubs as well which is a bonus.

XP Harware Wizard Problem

Hope someone can help with this one.

I cannot use the Add Hardware Wizard (or indeed access the add/remove hardware function within control panel) in Windows XP Home. Each time I try to, a message comes up saying that you can only install one device at a time (despite me not actually trying to install a device). I am now fully up-to-date with windows downloads, which I had thought to be the problem as I have only recently connected this particular PC to the Internet via Broadband.

I know it isn`t a huge problem as I can add and remove hardware easily enough using the hardware profile through `My Computer`, but any tips would be welcome, as I really can`t be bothered re-installing XP (installed originally by company who built PC) for such a little matter .

RE: O2 - See what you can do. (But just try leaving them...!)

I too had problems cancelling my contract with O2 online. I phoned a number of times when their system was down (around 50% of the time apparantly), when I finally was able to I cancelled 30 days before my contract was due to end. Needless to say I was not disconnected and had to phone again, in the meantime they sent a bill asking for another month`s line rental. After the second call they sent a new bill but included line rental from the original cut off date/end of my contract to 5 days later (after the second call) when I was cut off.

They then took via direct debit the sum for the original bill (including a month`s line rental). I sent countless e-mails which weren`t answered and I then got p*ssed off. I rang my bank who cancelled the direct debit arrangement, returned the money and promised to investigate the situation.

That was around 3 months ago and I have heard nothing from O2.

My tip to anyone would be that when terminating the contract make it clear that you are also cancelling the direct debit. State that if any charges are due after that date you will send them a personal cheque.

RE: TV Sitcoms that don`t work anymore

There are still some good Sitcoms out there. I thought Spaced was excellent. Black Books is also good and even Coupling (ok it`s a bit of a friends rip-off with a British twist twist) has been funny. Unfortunatly for every good sitcom there is another terrible one - My Family, My Hero etc.

I also think it`s time for LOTSW to give up. It wasn`t overly funny to begin with. There`s only so many times you can laugh at old men falling off bikes, down hills, into streams etc.

RE: Which games should I buy for my new PS2 - My last console was a Mega Drive!

The Getaway, PES 3, Medal of Honor Frontline are all superb games.

RE: Best place for Books?

I can recommend www.countrybookshop.co.uk

Have used them a few times and never had any problems.

RE: After 5 and a half years in Hammersmith...

To be honest there`s not too much at canary wharf apart from poncy wine bars.

However, if you head down to the river, there are a few restaraunts and if you walk from there towards Limehouse there is a cool little bar which sells pints of Nastro (not something I see often). Also, Limehouse has a few nice pubs (proper pubs - not bars) on or near the river.

RE: Champ Man 03/04 problems

Make sure you have the enhancement packs installed. Think there have been 3, do a search in google.

RE: Help - anyone with a Nokia 6600

Cheers,

Having no problem finding FExplorer, have downloaded it and thought I had deleted the files. Unfortunatly they are still there as icons on the menu screen.

There are 2 files which could be them but no way of knowing. Does anyone have files [101a3acc] and [10190935] in E:\SYSTEM\APPS

They look like the logical files to get rid of but I don`t want to delete anything else.

Again, any help much appreciated.

Help - anyone with a Nokia 6600

Just got my 6600 and have downloaded a few things. Tried a few applications out and then wanted to delete them. Deleted 2 fine, but have had problems with another two. When trying to remove them from apps manager I get the message "App. Closed ChildInstaller".

When I try to use either apllication I get the message "App.closed AppArdServerTh read?"

Any ideas?

Also, I have found a few MP3 player applications and was wondering which was best.

Any help much appreciated.

RE: Try this

11.44% I am fairly worried. Think I will have to start going out more!

RE: Splash offer

"As mentioned before while they remain cheaper than the competition, sell something I want and don`t p*** me off I will continue to use them."

I once would have agreed with you, however, I have now been waiting 6 weeks for the first series of Teachers to be delivered. I first contacted them 3 weeks ago requesting to cancel the order, they replied that they were out of stock and would deliver shortly. 3 weeks later I am still waiting. I have now requested to cancel the order again. Maybe this time they will?

I am only glad that I did not order an item as a present for someone. I will definetly not be using them come Xmas time.

RE: 3 to go video mobile - £50

Just phoned phone4u.co.uk.

Seems they are having huge problems with delivery. Despite quoting 48 hours delivery on their website, the guy I spoke to said that they were looking at around a weeks delay. I ordered on Monday morning, and anyone ordering after that is looking at a longer delay again!

Tempted to cancel and get the newer model for £40 from A1 Comms.

Also just seen this on the A1 Comms Site

RE: 3 to go video mobile - £50

Agree with madgpol, definitly Pay as you Go, similar to the Virgin Tariffs.

Has anyone had a despatch phone call yet? I know it`s early but want to start playing with it. Also, has anyone found any free download sites (other than 3guser.net) hoping to get a couple of games downloaded.

RE: 3 to go video mobile - £50

Well done bonytony. Just orderd one myself. This has the 3 months £10 free downloads too, which the A1 offer didn`t, so a much better bargain. :)

Cheers!

RE: 3 to go video mobile - £50

Was half way through ordering when I went to enter card details, kicked me out and when I went back price had gone up by a tenner. Don`t think I`ll be using them again.

Am sure the prices will come down further until they get a bigger market presence.

RE: So what movies AINT you seen that everyone else seems to have seen??

Cheers!

Now to decide if my credit card can cope.

RE: cheap personal dvd players

Sounds like a good deal,

I take it these are multi region? Any problems with power supply, do they come with UK or US fitted plug? How long do they hold their charge?

Basically, have you got any more info?

RE: SKY QUESTION?

Had this problem a couple of times when moving.

Firstly, the interactive thing - you don`t need to be plugged in to the phone line. Have had ours unplugged for around six months now, no problems.

Second, do not ring Sky for the install. they are useless. They usually have a long waiting list and just give you a day, no indication of time, so you end up sitting in the house waiting. Once, they didn`t even turn up to a mate`s house, didn`t ring till gone 6pm on a Saturday to tell him. Lets just say he wasn`t amused.

Go through the yellow pages and find a local Arial guy, he can come round and give you a quote, move things around etc. Has all the same deals as Sky anyway, as that`s where he gets it from!

RE: Travel Insurance - Any Recommendations?

Always used http://www.norwichunion.co.uk/

Normally the cheapest by a few quid. Been using them for about 5 or 6 years. Not sure what they are like for the US though (most places charge more) used them for Europe and Far East.

RE: Let`s write a story : two half-sentences each only 2

Hate to break it to you, but that was 1 and a half sentences. Plus these things are very annoying!

RE: Cd-wow... `Gold Member`

Is it not because they are selling Goldmember for £7.99?
