Which games should I buy for my new PS2 - My last console was a Mega Drive!

Right.
It`s been a while since I last owned a console but I`ve just bought myself a PS2 for £99 without any games and I need to buy myself a few ASAP. The only games I`ve played on my mates PS2 are Vice City and PES.
Which games do you think are a must have for this console? I`m thinking that I could pick up a some older games for a few quid and they`ll still be good.

Medal of Honor: Frontline is pretty good, although I`ve just bought it :D
GTA 3 and GTA: VC are essential as they are the best games on the PS2. Pro Evolution Soccer 3 is the only football game you need as well :D
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is also a great game. You can pick this up for about £20 and it`s quite a new game. Try Blockbuster, as that`s where I got my copy.
Lord of The Rings: Return of the King is a surprisingly good game, and it will remind you of Golden Axe on the Mega Drive... but it`s much better :)
I`m a big fan of Special Ops games such as Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid 2. Both are ace, although I prefer Splinter Cell. Rainbow Six 3 comes out at the end of March as well.
Anyway, GAME always have a few bargains and you should check them out :)

Metal Gear Solid 2 (very involving and plot oriented game) Splinter Cell GTA Vice City (Everyone should have this game) SSX 3 (Great snowboarding game, you dont need to be a fan to get into it. its great fun) Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds (Great action game, great reviews all round, very cheap at play.com) FIFA 2004/Pro Evolution Soccer 3 (Either of these are top footie games)

I`m with Chewie on this. Pro Evo 3 (even 2 is worth it if you can pick it up cheaper) and Prince of Persia (I picked this up from Play for 18 quid). Tony Hawks 3 is also good even if you`re not a big skate fan.

the best games ive played on the ps2 are PES, prince of persia, jak and daxter (jak 2`s dull), devil may cry, virtua tennis

The Getaway, PES 3, Medal of Honor Frontline are all superb games.

If you`re even vaguely interested in driving games you should get yourself a copy of Gran Turismo 3 - now that it`s part of the platinum range it`s almost criminal not to. :)
