RE: John Lennon
Also in Obla di Obla da, listen out for the line `Desmond lets the children lend a hand` followed by John and George (I think) shouting `Arm` and then `Leg` in the background. Those crazy Beatles!
RE: Back to the Future Trilogy Blu Ray
Hmmm, I may even wait until after Christmas for this then. I`ve seen the Stoltz footage anyway.
Probably not worth paying full price for - bah!
Thanks.
Back to the Future Trilogy Blu Ray
Hello all
I haven`t been on here for about 4 years and it`s nice to see that some of the regular posters from that time are still here!
One of the last things I was posting about was the newly released Back to the Future dvds. Anyway it`s surely time to grow up move on.........
and talk about the Back to the Future Blu Rays! Hurrah!
Obviously we are all going to get these films again and we`ve all read about the new extras (which don`t sound that exciting to me) but I wanted to ask if anyone knew anything about the deleted scenes on this new set.
The spec says that there are 16 deleted scenes, the same as the dvds, but wasn`t there a cigarette commercial that the manufacturers of the dvds screwed up and missed off so it was only accessible through finding the file on your computer? (Although you can watch it on youtube.)
Also I read that the producer said that there were more deleted scenes from BTTF3 that were only discovered after the release of the dvds, (the DeLorean`s disintergrating tyres after Marty touches them).
Does anyone know if these are going to be included or will we have to wait for the 30 year anniversary triple dip edition?
RE: PVR Freeview question
Thanks so much Sue, that`s a really big help. I have just ordered a PVR!
Now I just need to find a decent (reasonably cheap) DVD recorder with a DV input.
By the way Sue, is that Biddenden, Kent? I used to live in High Halden. Small world and all that.
PVR Freeview question
Hi,
I had a DVD/VCR combi which broke earlier this week and so I went out to upgrade and bought a Philips DVDR3440H (DVD Recorder with Built In Hard Drive).
Unfortunately I can`t get on with it due to the 20 second delay each time it`s switched on, you can`t do anything until it`s warmed up, not even open the disc tray. I know it`s only 20 seconds but it`s really frustrating if you accidentally switched it off while trying to figure out the options or if you saw something on telly and wanted to record it straight away.
Anyway, I am now thinking of getting a PVR and a seperate DVD recorder - are there many pros or cons to doing this?
The other thing is that the PVR I have seen says `Up to 30 free channels`, but my current freeview box has around 80 free channels (including radio stations), so what happens then? Would I lose loads of channels?
Any help appreciated.

Mac ibook memory question
Hello all,
I really do not have any idea about all this stuff so I thought I would turn to you guys for any help you can give me.
I have an ibook G3 (366MHz) and I want to upgrade the memory. I know how to fit a new memory circuit board thingy but I need to know about the compatibility with my machine.
I have just purchased some RAM (KTC311/256) from ebay and I now need to know whether it will actually work with my ibook.
Does anyone here have any idea?

RE: Want the best version of The Frighteners?
I received my german 4 discer yesterday. I haven`t had the chance to have a good look through it yet but I am somewhat disappointed with the static menu screens. It`s just the picture from the cover of the dvd. No music, no movie clips, no quotes - nothing!
According to this website they should look like this http://www.dvdtown.com/menuscreens/frightenersthedirectorscut/16713/
Which versions have got these menu screens?
It`s not the end of the world but it would have been nice.

RE: Want the best version of The Frighteners?
Man, I`m glad I ordered the German version then!
I didn`t realise that the uk version didn`t even open up into 3 seperate holders for the discs!
Thanks for your help Chewie, much appreciated!
RE: Want the best version of The Frighteners?
Has anyone got the uk 3-disc set of this? If so can you post some pictures like Chewie did? I just wanted to compare the packaging between this version and the German version. Is it gatefold? etc.
Unless anyone can just describe it...
Cheers
RE: Bangcd.com
I tried them out just before christmas and they are great! I got the new `Best of Dire Straits` - double cd edition for £7.99! It was on special offer at the time so I bought 3 copies and I received them in a week. Guess what everyone in my family got for chrimbo...
RE: Back to the Future
SO......
Does this mean that as far as extras are concerned, the best version to buy is still the R1 release?
Am I right that the original R1 set features audio commertaries for all 3 films (as well as the Q+A sessions for all 3 films) and the new `improved` R2 set doesn`t.
What else (if anything) is missing?
RE: DVD Recorder/VHS Combi Advice Please???
I don`t know too much about these but I saw them for sale in tescos yesterday.
RE: `Active` Home Cinema System
Ok Ryno, thanks anyway, I will continue my search. I`ll have a look around on review sites and see if I can find a bargain!
Cheers.
RE: `Active` Home Cinema System
I`ve got a Sony SLV D900 which is a dvd/video combi. I have checked, and it does have a pro logic II and DTS digital decoder in it. What do you think to the Ministry Of Sound one?
RE: `Active` Home Cinema System
So am I right that the speakers plug into the back of the active subwoofer then? I haven`t got all the connections on the back of my dvd player that you would get on a dvd player that comes as part of a home cinema kit. As I said, I don`t want to get an amp if I can help it...
`Active` Home Cinema System
Hello, I am looking to get a Home Cinema System, however, I want to use my existing dvd player and for space reasons, I don`t want to get a bulky amp either.
I realise that I need an amp to play the sound and I have read bits and pieces about `active` subwoofers which have the amp already built in.
Am I right in thinking that the speakers plug into the subwoofer and then the subwoofer plugs into the dvd player?
If so, can anyone recommend a speaker and active subwoofer package - preferably Sony.
Failing that they have one of these systems in Argos which is made by Ministry Of Sound for £99
What do you think..?
RE: Home Cinema Kits - WITHOUT DVD PLAYER!!
Thanks for that, but I really want to get Sony and I couldn`t see any on that site. I will keep looking. Cheers anyway.
Home Cinema Kits - WITHOUT DVD PLAYER!!
Hi, I am thinking of getting 5.1/DTS surround sound for my tv/dvd setup but whenever I look around for home cinema, they always seem to come in packages which include a dvd player. If I look up speakers alone, they are for stereos!!
Can anyone tell me what I need to be looking for? I`ve tried Home Cinema, Home Theatre, Speaker Sets, Speaker Systems and many other combinations of the above.
I really want to get Sony equipment and I`ve seen a sony home cinema package for £99 but it includes a dvd player, the only thing would be to get it and then sell the dvd player on ebay unless anyone can think of a better idea..?
New Blackadder Boxset
Has anyone got this? This is the new improved 6 disc boxset in a black outer case that came out this week. Does anyone know what (if any) differences there are between this one and the old US boxset? I can`t find any reviews or confirmed specs anywhere and so I wondered if anyone on here had actually seen this in a shop and had a good look at it.
I really want to get this but not if we in region 2 land are getting the rough deal again. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Sony DVD/VCR -R +R -RW +RW etc.??????
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I have got a Sony SLV D900 dvd/vcr combi, and I wanted to buy a dvd which is coded `-R`.
I don`t understand what the difference between -R, +R, -RW, +RW or VCD but I know that I`ve had various dvds which will play and others which won`t, (and one which ran at double speed!)
Can anyone clear this up and tell me what each of these types actually mean and which ones will work on my machine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Monty Python Re-re-re-releases
I was in Tesco the other day and noticed that The Monty Python films have been re-released yet again.
They have got new packaging and now include a film cell from each film.
Does anyone know if these are the only changes, as the Life of Brian didn`t list commentry as an extra but I`m sure one of the previous versions had it included (maybe R1).
I want to get all the Monty Python films on DVD but they are forever releasing `new` versions and now I don`t know what`s different from the last `new` version.
Can anybody help?
RE: Shrek 2 - pointless changes for the UK release.
Is the cut headbutt bit at the beginning of the film when Shrek is hanging from a tree by his ankle and Fiona beats up the villagers?
If so, did anyone notice that the `moves` she pulls are from Streetfighter 2?
Chun Li`s Spinning Bird Kick
Ryu/Ken`s Dragon Punch.
Is that different from the US version then?

RE: Jerky DVDs
I`ve just read this on a FAQ page. Does this sound right to you?
Q. "Someone told me I should buy a DVD lens cleaner for my machine or buy a extended warranty with an annual service".
A. DVD lens do not need cleaning ( except maybe in a very smokey environment like a bar ) and DVD players do not need annual servicing or lens adjusting or anything else. There is no physical contact inside a DVD player. It is basically a highly accurate CD player. Extended warranties are strictly your decision but do not fall for the annual service scam and DO NOT use a lens cleaner!
If that`s the case, then why do they sell them!
RE: Jerky DVDs
Oh ok then. It is a Sony SLV D900 Dvd/Video combi, but I don`t think that will make any difference.

Jerky DVDs
My dvds have started to jerk and pause slightly every few minutes or so.
I have cleaned the dvds themselves but still the problem persists. Even some of the menu screens jerk, and while watching a brand new dvd yesterday, the picture froze just before the end credits and the screen said `disc cannot be played`!!
When I ejected the disc and put it back in, I scene selected the end credits and it played them perfectly.
Could this problem be erradicated with a dvd lens cleaning disc?
Does this sound like a serious fault or just that the lens needs a clean?
Any help appreciated.

RE: The office Series 1 easter egg..... Help me get it to work! please!!
You just have to press enter when the phone rings, not before or after. From the time that the phone starts ringing the easter egg is active, when the phone stops, the easter egg is not active and you will have to wait for it to start ringing again before you can access the egg.
It`s just `Free Love Freeway` from one camera view.
RE: Army of Darkness R3
Has it got some of the deleted scenes edited back into the film?
Maybe it has some footage from the theatrical version and the directors cut put into it...?

Army of Darkness R3
OK I`ve finally got round to ordering this, and yes we all know about the better picture and sound quality, but this is supposed to be the longest cut of this film, so what`s extra?
I know about the 2 second dress ripping scene, but this version seems to be around 3 minutes longer so what else is here?
Any help as always will be greatly appreciated.
