Looking for a crt HDTV set

Hi

I have built myself a high spec mini pc to use as a media player and want to watch high def (720p and 1080i) .wmv and .avi movies. (Shrek, The Transporter for starters). Which, of the big names, is currently selling widescreen sets that support these resolutions? Can`t afford a plasma so was thinking about a sub 1K crt.

Cheers

RE: How can I play R-Type and/or R-Type II on my PC?

It`s nice to see you can endorse piracy when it suits you.

xbox chipping made redundant

The latest development makes the hacked bios load into ram from the HDD at boot up rather that from the eprom. Thus your box doesn`t need opened and hardware mod installed. The box behaves exactly as it would with hardware chip.

Still trying to figure it out so i can try it on a virgin box.

An article in the current issue of Wired magazine confirms what a lot of gamers were suspecting already: Microsoft is actively courting id Software for the exclusive console rights to Doom III. According to the article a feature on current developments in the jaw-dropping PC FPS—the company behind the Xbox is offering an undisclosed amount of money to id in exchange for the right to make their latest game an Xbox-only title as far as consoles are concerned. (It`d still come out on the PC, of course.)
The folks at id reportedly haven`t made a decision on the matter yet—it seems a reasonable enough assumption (lead programmer John Carmack has made comments in the past that seem to show a preference for the Xbox), but we`ll see how it turns out. The PC game will likely be playable at the Electronic Entertainment Expo next month in Los Angeles.

RE: Xbox clock resetting. Problem?

The xbox doesn`t have a battery. It does have a large capacitor that acts as a battery back up but it only lasts a few hours after you unplug your box. So if you leave it unplugged overnight your time and date settings will be erased

RE: Playing DivX on DVD Players

I have one and the do play SVCD and VCD very well along with DIVX, XVID etc. There is a few extra bits of software you need to get that all working though and if you want to play your CDR`s make sure you get the latest model as they have a much better DVD ROM unit, earlier ones, like mine, will only read DVDR. I can burn 3 SVCD`s or 3 or 4 DIVX movies onto 1 DVDR though and it works great

RE: Playing DivX on DVD Players

Get a chipped xbox--with some free software plays DIVX great, and everything else for that matter

RE: Is this PES on XBOX?

Oh right

Is this PES on XBOX?

I playing World Soccer 2002 on XBOX, its Japanese and made by Konami and is pretty damn good.

RE: X Box and Component Video. COR BLIMEY!!

Westy

Have you got the patch running to allow DVD playback in progressive scan with your xbox, and if so, whats that like?

Enabling progressive scan dvd playback on xbox

Progressive Scan DVD to dashboard & DVDRegionX2
>> This thread on the xboxhacker.net BBS explains how to install DVD Progressive Scan on your Xbox :

Quote:

Open xboxdash.xbe in an hex editor
search for : C7 46 28 20 00 00 00
replace by : C7 46 28 40 00 00 00
your Dash is now in progressive mode only
Tested on a 3944 dash.
Enjoy !!!

Edited :
For those without a DVD dongle, a little patch for DVDRegionX 2
83 C8 02 C1 E0 04 -> 83 C8 02 C1 E0 05
et voila it`s progressive too.

Progressive scan DVD player for under £200 (including modchip)--nice

RE: Turok Evolution on the PS2

I think you`ll find the PS3 won`t be the fashion statement the PS2 was

RE: Turok Evolution on the PS2

Hi Ironduke

I`m playing Turok Evolution on my XBOX now and it looks pretty f***ing sweet to me, next up is GT2002, arn`t newsservers fecking wonderful!!

RE: Progressive Scan from a UK Xbox????

The XBOX is capable of progressive scan for DVD`s but in its original state the feature is locked out. If you get it "chipped", install EVO-X and get the free dvd player software installed called DVD-X they have, I think, unlocked progressive scan.

I might be wrong

Arguing

Why is it you always see endless arguments in console discussion forums? Why dont we all just but the 4 consoles (dreamcast included) then we can have more unbiased discussions.

BTW this new (and last) dreamcast game looks pretty good, it`s jap but should be easily playable

RE: Is Wreckless: The Yakooza Missions available on PS2?

RE: GameCube back-up discs

I doubt if the gamecubes antipiracy measures rely solely on a 3-inch disc.

"ha ha ha, they`ll never copy one of these little discs"--nintendo boffin

Bye the wayside--dabs are doing those blank discs for 25 quid a piece

RE: Tekken 4 - PS2 impressions

Problem with this type of forum is you never feel like you are getting a completely unbiased view

RE: Tekken 4 - PS2 impressions

"VIRTUA FIGHTER 4 may have some JAGS but it is far superior then DOA3"

No its not, try DOA3 on the xbox and you`ll see. Whats so sad for the Playstation 2 is thats a 3rd generation game campared to a 1st on the xbox.

This is some info for the xbox morons out there

For the guy who thinks its an nforce board, it`s just a pc etc

an extract..
"Unlike the IGP by nFORCE, which uses a graphics processor derived from the GeForce 2 MX, the Xbox`s XGPU uses a derivative of the graphics processor GeForce 3. The architecture of the NV2A is situated between the NV20 (GeForce 3) and the NV25 (GeForce 4)"

RE: THX

I though THX just meant it was a certified quality soundtrack.

No?

RE: Playing MPeg-2 CDRoms

Super VCD is a standard for playing MPEG2 off a CD rather than a DVD. The MPEG2 stream is however at a lower bitrate since transfer speeds form a CD are lower, hence lower quality.
