Looking for a crt HDTV set

BigWullie (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 22nd February 2004, 13:00

Hi

I have built myself a high spec mini pc to use as a media player and want to watch high def (720p and 1080i) .wmv and .avi movies. (Shrek, The Transporter for starters). Which, of the big names, is currently selling widescreen sets that support these resolutions? Can`t afford a plasma so was thinking about a sub 1K crt.

Cheers

Look for the JVC threads in the UK Avforums (avforums.com), CRT televisions section.

I`ve just bought a 27" Thomson LCD TV for 1350ish. The screen isn`t too large, but it does benefit from having a DVI connector, which is brilliant for HDTV. The resolution is 1280 x 768 IIRC. I`ve seen it at Currys or Comet for £1499 (sourced on-line from QED myself).

Overall, I`m happy with the picture quality - especially when connected to progressive scanning on my DVD player. It`s got plenty of inputs, so I`ve been able to do away with my SCART switchbox.
