CARPET OR LAMINATE ? - PLEASE HELP

Hi i currently have an all carpet house apart from the bathroom and kitchen which i will keep in lino whichever way i go.

i cant make my mind up whether to go for carpet or laminate :/ , people have told me that laminate gives a lot cleaner look and is easier to keep clean :) .

what im more concerned about is the dust, now it seems logical to me that although carpets can harbour a lot of dust etc, it is trapped in them until you hoover.
whereas any dust falling on laminate will just be laying on top of a hard surface and will simply be blown everywhere when a door is opened for example. has anyone who has switched from carpet to laminate noticed more or less dust!

any advice much appreciated :)

CHILD ABDUCTION IN PORTUGAL

First of all i`d just like to say how my heart goes out to the couple whos child has gone missing in portugal, myself the father of two girls once lost my daughter in a supermarket for only about 5 mins (which seemed like forever at the time)and the things what run through your head in only that short time and the sickening and panicky feeling is not something i`d like to experience again.

i have my own opinions about kids of that age not being left on there own, but its not something i wish to go into right now.

anyway the extract below is a comment which someone left on a website in regards to the child abduction in portugal

frightening or what!

"I live near Javea Spain. Three or four years ago an Englishwoman was shopping in a big local supermarket Mercadona. Her baby boy was sitting in the little seat in the trolley. She left the trolley for a moment to go down another aisle. When she returned the child was gone. She screamed hsyterically that her child had been stolen. Mercadona staff immediately "locked down" the supermarket, and called the Guardia Civil. The Guardia searched the premises and found some East Europeans with the child in the toilets. The child´s head had been shaved, and it was already dressed in clothes of the opposite sex. Could you say that woman had been negligent? Child snatchers can be both audacious and ruthless. Please don´t have a go at these unfortunate parents".

SATNAV QUESTION - NAVTEQ OR TELEATLAS?

Hi, i cant make my mind up about whether to go for garmin (navteq mapping) or tom tom (teleatlas mapping) :/

has anyone had experience of both as i want to find out which one has the most accurate mapping

thanks for any feedback ;)

RE: sat nav question

Hi, i disagree about tom toms being the best. :/
i subscribe to "which" online and in the last two tests on sat navs, garmin have come out both times as the best buys :)

in the last test the garmin nuvi 300 came out on top, and the test before that the garmin i3 was the best buy, beating sat navs which were twice the price!

i myself have purchased a i3 which although it has a small screen and no touch screen is very easy to use and very accurate when im travelling around .

just some other info to add, the army and airplanes use garmin systems for their navigation, which must say something!
and garmin use the navteq mapping system which is more accurate than the ones tom tom use.

useful web links:

for the most accurate and most comprehensive speed camera database
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com

one of the best websites for poi (points of interest)

hope this info helps roadrunner1

RE: Samsung D900 - ring and vibrate at same time ??

hi mate yes it does :)

check this website out:

http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/samsung-d900.htm

an exert from the link above:

The phone has all the usual features that you`d expect - messaging, email, MP3 ringtones, speakerphone, Java games, etc, etc. The full spec is listed below. There are a few bonus features - a doucment viewer for viewing MS Office files, offline mode for use when listening to music on a plane, a TV-Out connection for viewing images directly on a TV screen, and EDGE for fast internet access. Connectivity is via Bluetooth or fast USB. The user interface is very nice and friendly, with a new menu design featuring a black background - very smart. Battery life is good. One gripe is that you can`t use an MP3 for the SMS alert sound (same with all Samsungs), but good news - you can select vibrate and ring simultaneously.

a good site for comparisons on thousands of contract deals is:

http://www.hotukmobiles.co.uk/index.asp

hope this helps

UK AIRPORTS ON HIGH ALERT - YEAH RIGHT!

I totally agree with the following comment on a sky news forum:

"Government Propaganda at the highest level, convenient timing for a terror alert to distract attention away from the massacres we are helping to support in Lebanon and Iraq.

No doubt Messrs Blair & Bush are in cohoots over this one as well, as its taken some of the heat away from their Christian Fundamentalist Agenda.

Never did i think i`d be embarrased to be British but I am"
