ALTON TOWERS HOTELS - ANYBODY STOPPED THERE?
Hi, im thinking about taking the family to alton towers hotel for one night over christmas, and was wondering if anyone has stopped there.
i would appreciate any comments on either of the hotels regarding food prices ,standard of service, what the water park is like? etc etc.
also any tips regarding staying there and any good eating places around the alton area.
thanks in advance for any info :)

RE: ALTON TOWERS HOTELS - ANYBODY STOPPED THERE?
Been loads of time, but never stayed in one of their own hotels.
They`re just too damned dear to stay in.
If you look at their website, they mention prices along the lines of £43pppn.
For a family of four,that`s £172 ! :o
There will be umpteen hotels around the area that will do you family rooms for half that.
Pppn is such a old-fashioned way of pricing hotels.
Hardly anyone uses it these days.
It`s just a price per room and they tell you how many it will sleep.
Even 5 star hotels I`ve stayed in quote room rates, rather than pppn.

i used this site to find B&Bs nearby the couple of times I`ve been up there.
I`ve never stayed in one their own hotels. A friend did as a treat for hid birthday and he said it was a nice hotel ( I can`t remember which one he stayed in) but they are over-priced.
I think what he said was good though, was that he went in school holidays ( I avoid those times) and he said that by staying on site the park is opened earlier for you.

hello you do know that if you go this time of year the park is closed but they do let you in and go on selected rides, i`ve stayed at the hotel once, and personally would not go again, we went on the weekend they do a show at night and when we asked for a none smoking area we were told we don`t do that you sit where there is a seat and if some one is smoking then nothing we can or would do, so we skipped that, we also thought the food was a bit poor consider what we paid and so we ate off site in alton,we went just over 2 years ago and so it might of got better,we went to warsaw for 4 nights a few weeks ago and it cost about the same and the food was excellant, you could eat very well for less than a tenner with beer and hotel was great so i know what i would do if i had the time to go and a few hundred quid, i wonder if i can get in to see the doctor for a sick note........................
