RE: VOLVO S60 . . . anyone got one ?

Have you got a local Volvo dealer? I too was looking at the S60 earlier this year and I managed to hire one from Harratts for just over £100 for a long weekend - picked it up Good Friday and returned it Easter Monday. The model I had was the D5 SE auto with full leather, climate control etc brand new with 22 miles on the clock! Took it up the motorway at 80 tickled the accelerator and away it went to 100 in no time at all. Plus it had the most comfy seats I have ever sat in - heated too.
Are you thinking of diesel or petrol? The sales rep I spoke to said the petrol was quicker in 0-60 terms (approx. 8 secs.) but the diesel had better mid range as it has a lot more torque.
In the end I couldn`t get the spec I wanted for the price I wanted to pay but one evening I saw a Volvo C70 coupe at a very good price so I bought that instead - I always was a sucker for 2 door cars anyway!
Craig.
The C70 by the way has been fantastic so far , touch wood.

RE: Does anybody here own the Hannibal Lecter boxset?

It should be the 2 disc SE.
Mine was anyway.

RE: SONIX 26" LCD Panel for £499 at Sainsburys

I know what you mean about the badge on the front - I saw one of these on Saturday in the Meadowhall Savacentre and had to have a second look. It does look nice for the money but my local Comet is doing a 26" Samsung LCD for £799 which I think would be a better bet in the long run.

RE: Forgotten TV comedy

Alexei Sayles` Stuff
Tha All New Alexei Sayle Show

"Who`s that fat b*****d"

Wish these were out on DVD, UK Gold cut them to ribbons when they showed them.

RE: Why Is There No ST:The Motion Picture Slip Case?!!!!

I think the first copies came with a slip case but I haven`t seen (or been able to get one) for a while.

RE: TGI Friday - 2 for 1 (Main Meal)

the voucher is in todays sun newspaper (my mum reads it - honest!) page 10 i think, and it runs while january 31st - my birthday yippee!

Ebay auction - is this genuine?

Just been browsing on ebay and saw this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41575&item=6354087843&rd=1

Is this legit or not? I was under the assumption that you couldnt get Star Wars with DTS sound. I must admit though it does look pretty good if a bit flimsy, but then again the R1 version I bought wasn`t up to the usual standards!

RE: What TV series would you like to see on the big screen?

A decent Simpsons movie would be nice! If they can make Beavis & Butthead and South Park work I`m sure they could make this work. Having said that they`ve had long enough to come up with a script....

RE: What are your fave films based on a television series?

I too enjoyed Maverick but I went in blindly to see it, not knowing what to expect. I had never seen the original tv series or the trailer so I hadn`t got a clue as to what it was about! I do remember buying the laserdisc as soon as it came out though.

The only other film I`ve gone to see blindly was Erin Brockovich and I really enjoyed that too - maybe it`s better not having seen a trailer these days.

RE: What are your fave films based on a television series?

I watched Charlie`s Angels 2 for the first time two nights ago - WOW! it`s poor (but strangely watchable).

What are your fave films based on a television series?

As the heading really, I noticed that TCM were showing The Fugitive the other day. This is my fave film from a tv series - Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones are always watchable. The script is decent, there`s a fair amount of action, and I think it stands up to repeat viewings.

What are everyone elses faves then....

RE: VIRGIN SALE better than HMV S***e...

Went into Virgin and noticed that Lost In Translation is now £12.99 - up from £7.99 when I bought it 2 weeks ago. What a bargain! :/

RE: Following the product placement thread, WHAT IS THE Best/worst FX SHOT IN A MOVIE YOU HAVE SEEN!

that stupid monkey/alien thing which clings to joey from friends in lost in space is really pathetic really.

RE: Your fave controversial song or album.

anyone remember One In A Million by Guns n` Roses? not a fave but controversial anyway.

RE: Watch Richard and Judy on Channel 4 now....

"i`ll have to watch what they buy on the internet" - her kids got credit cards then?

RE: Watch Richard and Judy on Channel 4 now....

should help the sales go up quite a bit i reckon !

RE: How Much?

£900 for a Pioneer DVL 909 Laserdisc/DVD combi player back in `98 if I remember rightly. Just got it back from repair a few weeks ago (at a cost of nearly 300 notes!).

RE: Help needed - Does Jaws exist on DVD

It might be worth checking your nearest Virgin Megastore - the one in the Meadowhall Shopping Centre had loads last week in their 5 for £30 offer, but the Sheffield city centre store today didn`t have any!

I got mine from Game a while back for £6.99 but it is a slightly different cover to the 25th Anniversary Edition, although the features are identical!

Cover can be viewed at:

http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11184&mid=320658

Does anyone know what this is? Is it some sort of euro import version?

RE: Mistah-wedding-deejay, are you for real?

"How much do you love Pat Sharp?"
"Not as much as me - I have a restraining order"

BRILLIANT ! :D

RE: Quote of the day

Wasn`t it used on I`m Alan Partridge or one of his other series?

RE: Poor, poor reviews in HCC - Is this what YOU, the readers, really want ?!

Another thing that`s started bugging me about HCC is that they now show one large photo of the amp/dvd player/plasma etc but then spread around it three or four smaller photos but each one only shows the smallest amount of detail. When you`re looking for a new amp or whatever you want to see the back panel in full not a small shot of just the speaker connections. Home Entertainment went all arty with their photos and as such made it pointless buying it, I mean who wants to see just the top left three inch piece of the back panel of an av amp?
Or is it just me getting narky?

RE: Pet Peeve No.1 - Being stopped by Charity Workers every lunchtime!!!!!!

Last time I went to Nottingham there was a scruffy twenty-something lass sat on the floor begging - she was only sat on the floor between 2 cash machines trying to sponge cash from people in BOTH queues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As usual just walked past muttering under my breath whilst girlfriend looked on in disbelief at her cheek!

RE: Wes Craven Box Set - Under a tenner.

Also includes fifth disc with 70 minute documentary if I recall correctly. Is this box the same one ?

RE: WHSmiths Final Clearance

It pays to look around when you shop instore in WH Smiths. NONE of these were on a separate display as clearance items but were just on the shelf among their other stock - the Fawlty Towers box was next to a Fawlty Towers first series single disc edition priced up at £16.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
