Loved the first season, the first half of season 2 was still good but seemed to drag a bit till the mid season finale, the second half of season 2 has been very good, cant wait for season 3


On a side note, my friend insists on telling me that the books are better, I say surely you can enjoy them both on their own merits, now Ive not read the comics, can I read them without spoiling the TV show? I keep reading that the show differs from the books quite a lot (very much like True Blood, Ive read all the books, and enjoyed them as enjoyable fluff, but the TV show is now very different after the first season being pretty much an adaptation of the first book) ..if I start reading the comic am I likely to spoil my enjoyment of the show or is the comic series different enough to enjoy separately?

It depends what it is....Blu-ray steelbooks and digibooks dont tend to find their way into the bargain bins, if anything they sell out very quickly and then you end up paying double the price on Ebay, (a few of the store exclusives have also sold out on preorder weeks before the release date such as the Play.com exclusives of X men first class and Rise of the planet of the Apes and Cowboys and Aliens from HMV) If its just a regular film that Im not too fussed about getting a special edition or any kind of special packaging, I just wait till the price drops

Yes it will, NZ is region B along with OZ, pretty much all of Europe, Africa and Asia

Also depending on the studio the disk could very well be region free anyhow, All titles from Universal are region free, or at least Im yet to encounter a region locked one....

I braved the metrocentre on boxing day (its become a tradition for me and the sister to go out shopping on a boxing day, we used to find some real bargains, the last few years not so good), it was busy but there seemed to be far more empty handed folks there than there were laiden down with sale bags...

HMV`s `sale` was a joke most of the series box sets were between £10 - £30 more than the online prices, the inbetweeners 3 series dvd set was £18...it was £15 instore only a few weeks ago, £13 on amazon...its currently £10 in asda and £8 in morrisons. Their 2 for £15 Blu-ray offer had some decent titles in it but you can buy most of em for between £6 and £8 anyhow so no great deal really. I bought `Cowboys and aliens` only because my pre order hadnt been precessed in the run up to Christmas so it was quicker to buy it instore than wait for it to be posted

The sis got some trainers in the sale at a good price, other than that its been pretty poor all round, no amazing deals on TV`s etc, I cant see where these amazing retail bargains are that they keep telling us about on the news

The vast majority of the Amazon uk black friday event was frankly crap, there were a few gems amongst it but most if not all of them were only available during 8-5 when Im at work and dont have the luxury of a job that allows me to spend my working day online shopping! 

The only things that stood out for me were the Avatar steelbook, Scarface cigar box Blu-ray for £15 (again while I was at work so no chance) I would have grabbed the Lion King If I hadnt bought it last week, and there was a nice `Bridesmaids` box set with a toy dog but it was DVD, if it was a Blu-ray Id have grabbed it for my sister, so all in all a pretty poor event, unless you like socks, kitchen items, reality tv series boxsets, watches or oddly, breast pumps and baby bottles

I made a comment on the amazon facebook page about the deals being nothing special and got loads of abuse form folks saying I should be grateful and not knock the `great deals` and anyhow Black Friday is an American thing so I should be thankful Amazon UK are even having a sale....now dont get me wrong, Im a fan of Amazon, they have good prices, very quick delivery, well packaged items etc, BUT if your gonna embrace the `Black Friday` concept at least make the deals comparable to the amazing offers they have in the states, where were the killer deals on DVD/Blu-ray`s? where were the cheap box sets (there were some star trek ones but Im not a trekkie) where were the kindle deals? 

If your gonna call it Black Friday, it should be up there with the US or just call it a pre Christmas sale, the term Black Friday brings with it certain expectations following stories from friends in the US, what we got was `Black Friday lite`....


Hopefully Boxing day brings the goods....

RE: Replacement number plate

I bought my replacement plates from ebay, I have nothing against the regulation as such, but sorry I refuse to be held to ransom by some auto spares shop who think they can charge me £15 for one plate just because they think I have no other choice. The ones from ebay are exactly the same as the ones from the auto spares place, correct font, spacing etc they advertise them as `for show use` just to cover their arses legally but theres no difference between these plates and any other apart from the price.

Mine came from Ireland, where apparently this daft rule isnt in force ...and for the record Ive had mine on my car for years and pass the MOT with no problems

I enjoyed it, but watched it knowing it wasnt what it was marketed as, I agree that it was horribly mis-marketed as an action monster movie so can understand why folks going to see it expecting an action monster movie would be disappointed and give it negative reviews, watching the extras on the Blu-ray about the daily editing in makeshift studios with laptops and hard drives ballanced on suitcases and the fact the SFX were all done on a shoestring budget (model planes and clingfilm wrapped torches in a bathtub, even the subtle sign replacement) adds to the enjoyment of the film for me that a very good film can be made in such a fashion. Its well worth a watch, just dont go into it expecting an action monster adventure....
