Page 1 of Whatever Happened To Songs You Can Hum?

I`m not running in old fart mode, there`s a lot of great music out there but it`s been ages since I heard a tune I could hum or a lyric I could sing.  A lot of modern tracks have catchy riffs, or catchy refrains, but I don`t think I`ve heard a modern equivalent of an old standard in ages.

Do people still write songs, or is it all performers writing their own exclusive sound?

I know exactly what Mark means. That`s why I`m currently singing along to Simon and Garfunkel`s The Boxer.

There are a few modern singers that I like, but I`d have trouble recalling enough of their complicated rhythms to hum or whistle one while I`m working!

Do you mean tunes like Quando, Quando, Quando,  Please Release me, The last waltz?

If so... then the British Eurovision 2012 is for you!

Riding a long in a push bike baby, YMCA and the birdy song, argh !!!  

I can never forget them, please please release me, let me go, (from thoses songs).

My Eurovision money`s on the Babushkas, actually.

As for what sort of tunes - catchy ones. I`m not going to suggest something that ties me into old farts` tastes. Catchy tunes. The sort of thing that turns into an earworm but you get the lyrics right.
