RE: Need VCD unlock codes for Bush DVD2039/Alba DVD59
The multiregion hack is:
1) POWER ON THE DVD PLAYER
2) PRESS THE OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON ONCE ON THE REMOTE
3) PRESS THE PROG BUTTON ONCE ON THE REMOTE
4) PRESS ENTER 3 TIMES ON THE REMOTE
5) USE THE UP/DOWN ARROWS AND SELECT REGION 0
6) PRESS THE STOP BUTTON UNTIL IT SAYS REGION SET TO 0, TO CONFIRM ON YOUR REMOTE.
I would still like to know if this machine can be unlocked to play VCDs
Need VCD unlock codes for Bush DVD2039/Alba DVD59
The Bush DVD2039 and Alba DVD59 would appear to be the same player. I know how to make it multiregion, but I would like to be able to play VCDs on it too.
Does anyone know how?
RE: Hack Needed for BUSH DVD 2039 PLEASE!!!
Has anyone verified the hack posted above?
I have a DVD2039 and was wondering if it could be hacked to play VCDs, like the 2037.
RE: SPLASHDVD OUT OF BUSINESS
Have any Nationwide customers (using debit cards) had any luck with refunds? I`m waiting on some forms to arrive from the building society.
Fear and Loathing - Region 2 when?
The Criterion Collection (region 1) version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas looks feature-packed. Is there a similar (or any) region 2 release of this film planned?
RE: Big Lebowski £3.49 at splash
Is this the £2 voucher for first-time customers?
DVD layer change
The one thing I find annoying about DVDs is the layer change. Is there a sufficiently expensive player available that can somehow "read ahead" to mitigate the effects of changing layer? I`d really like to find one.
The problem is that most films don`t seem to bother putting the layer change at a suitable point, i.e. during a "fade to black" moment.
RE: Splash £2 off everything offer
I believe the £2 has been deducted from all the prices on the website. Certainly the CD I was checking out last week is now £2 cheaper. However on most new items they probably will have put the price up in preparation over the last couple of days, so you most likely won`t notice any difference. Sneaky, but most of the shops on the high street use the same tactic during "promotions". I guess we`re all just mugs.
RE: Another opportunity to self-inflict grief courtesy of Splash!
What? They aren`t able to honour items bought in the sale? What does that mean? They have already precharged my card for all the items I bought. Some have turned up, others haven`t.
RE: Splash Sale
I hope they don`t go under. I`ve got a number of orders outstanding with them, and I didn`t use a credit card so I doubt I`ll have any insurance.
RE: DVDPlus.co.uk - delivery times?
cheers peter p. my order has arrived now. I must say I only ordered because of the free fast delivery. The price wasn`t all that cheap given that I had to wait for delivery.
RE: DVDPlus.co.uk - delivery times?
Thanks everyone for your informative and enlightening responses. No, really. Thanks.
DVDPlus.co.uk - delivery times?
There are a number of very positive reviews on dooyoo about DVDPlus.co.uk, most of which mention that orders placed on one day arrived the very next day. I placed mine on Monday, and now it`s Wednesday and I haven`t even received a shipping confirmation, although the DVD was in stock (over a 100 available).
Since this is the first time I have used them I failed to register and hence can`t track my order. However I emailed them about it and haven`t yet received a response. A quick check on their help pages reveals that they (like other cheap online stores) ship from the Channel Islands, and this takes 4-5 days. Why are the reviews wrong, have DVDPlus changed their operations recently?
RE: HMV Buy One Get One Free
Yep, Fargo, The Man Who Wasn`t There, Brazil... better stuff than in the previous sale (depending on your point of view of course). Although you can get these just as cheap (if not cheaper) at CD-Wow and similar.
RE: £2 off Splashdvd
I read at nusonline.co.uk that splashDVD offers 10% off to students. First I`ve heard of it. I can`t seem to see where you enter your details to get this offer though, or if you have to use a special link.
Knowing Splash, they probably wouldn`t process the discount anyway, but it would have made a big difference given the amount I`ve ordered from them in the past.
RE: Fargo £9.99 at CD-WOW
Yep, mine arrived this morning too. I was going to post about it but then saw your post.
Indeed it is the same as the one Amazon are selling and the ones I can find on the high street (mostly for £19.99) - i.e. one disc. I therefore conclude that the SE is only one disc. In fact I can`t remember where I saw mention of a two-disc extravaganza.
RE: Breadmaker £9.99 at Tescos
Pooh. My Tesco say that they have no plans on getting more in.
RE: Breadmaker £9.99 at Tescos
Really? More breadmakers? I wonder if they`ll have any round here.
RE: Fargo £9.99 at CD-WOW
I wanted to snap this up too, but the cover is different to the one they have at amazon.co.uk.
CD-Wow frequently screw up the listing of the DVD contents. But they do take stuff back if you aren`t satisfied.
Also a bargain: The Man Who Wasn`t There, 7.99
RE: Problem with SplashDVD £2-off offer.
Just had an amusing phone conversation with Splash. Got through in no time at all.
It was obvious that the guy had been answering similar complaints all day. Basically he accused me of entering my voucher number incorrectly (I copied and pasted it). I refuted this, since they sent me a confirmation with the discounted price in it.
He was very brusque, but agreed to refund £2 to my card. We`ll see....
RE: Problem with SplashDVD £2-off offer.
I`m not sure if the shipping notifications are genuine. I received an email on Tuesday but nothing has shown up. Moreover, on another message board, somebody mentioned that Splash had some "technical errors" and had sent out erroneous shipping notices.

RE: Aldi Specials 24 July - Portable CD Player £19.99
That does look quite good. Didn`t they sell a portable CD player not too long ago?
I would guess that, since they don`t mention it, it can`t play MP3s.
Problem with SplashDVD £2-off offer.
Quite apart from the fact that all DVDs appear to have gone up by a pound since the beginning of the week, it would appear that some orders have been charged at the full price.
One of the three DVDs that I ordered has been put through at £10.99 rather than £8.99 despite Splash sending me a correct order confirmation including "voucher redemption".
I have sent a message to charging@ but I`m guessing they will (as usual) be inundated with complaints. Pah!
Check your orders people.
RE: £2 off at Splash DVD all this week
I got a message early on Tuesday that one of my DVDs had shipped. Nothing has arrived yet though, normally the post is good and stuff arrives the next day, if not then the day after that.
RE: £2 off at Splash DVD all this week
Huh? That is incredibly cheeky. I ordered Donnie Darko and Mulholland Drive (both at £12.99) yesterday and today they are up to £13.99. Can they get away with that?
I guess I won`t be buying any more from them during the sale then.
RE: FIGHT CLUB only £5.99
On their website the VHS is £5.99, but the DVD is £23.99! Gasp, *faints*
RE: FIGHT CLUB only £5.99
Why does my local have nothing?! It must be the most rubbish WH Smiths in the country. I`ve been walking round with vouchers in my pocket since Christmas just waiting for them to have a sale on their DVDs.
RE: £2 off at Splash DVD all this week
<rant>They don`t make any effort to chase up orders that have been languishing. I had to explicitly ring up and cancel an order from last October and the girl on the phone sounded astonished that it had been on backorder for such a long time and that I hadn`t cancelled it until now.
I reordered something once, assuming they had cancelled the original order after a month (I`m sure they used to do this), but then they sent me both when it arrived in stock. </rant>
Anyway I`m off to do some more ordering. I got the email before I checked this thread, but thanks for pointing it out anyway.
RE: Blue Velvet: Special Edition @ CD-Wow
Let me know what it`s like (or write a review for this site :) ). I have always been a bit dubious about ordering DVDs from CD-Wow as, even if they are advertised as Region 2, they tend to substitute some strange version which you wouldn`t find in the shops.
I am even more sceptical after ordering Radiohead`s Hail to the Thief and getting fobbed off with some bizarre copy controlled version. After hearing all the trouble people had been having with CC albums I got a replacement straight away. Websites should be more explicit in exactly what version of things they are selling (although in that case EMI prohibited them from displaying a warning in case it affected sales).
RE: Sell-through price of DVDs
Interesting stuff. I don`t make a habit of renting DVDs because they are always scratched to buggery. I had always assumed though that they were exactly the same as you bought everywhere else. The `sell through` price I took to mean the price that a film drops to after 6 months to a year (or sooner if there`s no demand for it, i.e. it`s rubbish). So I guess that would mean mid-price or budget.
