RE: 50" Panasonic Plasma - How much would you pay?
i bought a panasonic tx-p42s21b last november for £519.00 at comet harrogate. the picture is stunning contrast ratio is 2,000,000 to 1, fresh rate 0.01 percent it has freeview hd, iam well pleased with it..

if this as already been posted iam sorry but i have not used the forums for a while. being a "what hi sound and vision" reader these are 2 five star reviews i have bought. sennheiser cx 300-11 are brilliant headphones a real deep bass and clear treble response, i bought mine from ebay well below the guide price of £25.00 they did take a while to loosen up but the sound quality makes it worth the wait. a hdmi cable from" that`s" is a fantastic buy for £5.00 again from ebay, the increase in picture and sound quality is well worth buying. these are in my opinion 2 reviews that could save money if some one is looking to buy them.
RE: Government Intends To Reward Carers and Disabled With Cuts
looks like another kick in the head for carers. i care for my son 24 hours a day 7 days a week so i claim carers allowance of £53.00 a week and as iam a full time carer i have to claim income support. from my income support £53.00 is deducted for my payment of carers allowance. my total income is £160.00 a week and we are struggling to manage if i restart work again and earn over £90.00 my carer`s allownce is stopped. i cannot see any social services taking over my caring for less than £300.00 a week. so if my carers allowance is stopped i ask my local social service`s to take over my caring duties if every carer did the same the social services could not cope with over 6million carer,s doing the same, most councils would need to pay millions out pushing up the council tax to pay for it. good luck to them all.
RE: Fuel prices..again!
the price increase is due to speculater`s pushing the price of oil to over $70 a barrel as they expect the price to rise. making them a nice profit
RE: Getting a new MP3 player - recommendations?
all you need is either speakers with a built in amp, or any hifi etc then use the headphone out socket. then connect the 3.5ml cable to any external souce with aux input on hifi etc. then adjust the volume.
RE: Getting a new MP3 player - recommendations?
pleased that you like the sony, i think you will agree that after playing around with the sound settings you can get a really good sound from the sony, and at £69.00 for a quality mp3 player is fantastic value. iam fast approaching 60 and i have allways gone for sound quality over price, style, etc i love the fact that i can listen to my music. everthing from andre bocilie to the killers, whith out inflicting it on anyone else
RE: Getting a new MP3 player - recommendations?
all tracks on my sony mp3 are ripped at 128kbs and the sound quality is fantastic. i can get around 4000 tracks on it. if anyone buys the sony or own`s one can they post their opinions on this site
RE: Getting a new MP3 player - recommendations?

minimum wage to be abolished?
when the minimum wage bill was made law, the conservatives all voted against it.
michael howard said that the next conserative goverment would "let market forces set wages with no interference from goverment, and the law would be changed to allow employers to set wages at either the present amount or lower than now"
im lucky that i don`t rely on minimum wage. but millions do and for them to loose their rights do a decent wage is not on.
i tried talking to my local canidate from the conservative party about the minimum wage.
he tried to avoid the subject, and speak about other things instead?
RE: what home cinema system do u own
i own a sharp sd50ath 1 bit digital amp. with a mini av amp and dvd player, bought it from empire direct on offer. £499.99 normaly £289.99 inc delivery. i have been around hi fi etc for 40 years and iam blown away with the sound in both home cinema and cd play back,
RE: Best place to get blank dvd-r`s??
www.bigpockets.co.uk i have used themfor long time.. will let you buy trial packs to see if they are ok.
RE: unplayable dvds and cds
it was a region 1 dvd. our dvd players can play all regions and rce encoded disc`s that is the first i checked my sons dvd rewriter nec 1300a has been up-graded to play all discs.
their is a test case going through the courts at the moment about the problem of unplayed disc`s which have copy protection on them it is in denmark or sweden.
so it is a probem with the copy protection as the disc is not a copy it was bought from cdwow and every other disc we bouht has ok..
we need to find out how we stand about returning faulty dvd`s or cd`s
unplayable dvds and cds
my son bought the underworld dvd region 1 and it would not play on our dvd player elta 8882 others played ok, then we tried it in my pc and my optorite multi burner still no luck so we tried a few more nothing. on the back was a copy protected warning.
some of his mates have bought dvds which won`t play. and also cds
my point is that most of the retailers will not exchange or refund a dvd or cd which has been opened. this is happening more and more.
so, how do you check that the dvd or cd will play on your system without removing the wrapping, maybe some one has a magic wand and that might do it. otherwise you are stuck with something that doesn`t work
RE: Looking for a top home cinema package, please..
i bought a sharp SDAT50H from www.empire direct.co.uk it is a 1bit system the cd player and av control are really small with the stands you can have it on its side so it takes up less room being a digital amp and 1 bit the sound is awesome the system out put is 300 watts rms. iam totally in love with this. it is well worth £499.00 but on offer at £287.00
RE: KiSS DVD Player DP-500 Anyone got or seen one?
if you look on ebay. we have a elta 8892. which is the same as the kiss without the ethernet connection, cost £160.00. is a good player of all files. you can update the firm ware from their web site, and it can be made all region. also you can turn the macrovision off.
RE: DVD recorders.....record off a Sky+ or Tivo hard drive?..and a DVD video on the PC?
sky+ is very good for recording tv. one big problem is if you stop your £10.00 a month for the tv guide from sky it stop`s you from recording anything at all also you can not watch what you have already recorded.
RE: DVD+R/RW GAINS MORE COMPANY SUPPORT
at the end of the day. 1 format will win, 2 will lose out. i remember the format war with betamax, vhs, video 2000,
the best for recording was betamax. the reason it lost was that sony would not allow rental companies to rent out their video`s so they went for vhs. the average person could not afford to buy a vcr as they were to expensive.
RE: anyone know the hacks for a elta dvd
thanks. it now works fine... geoff
RE: anyone know the hacks for a elta dvd

RE: Macrovision Copyguard Colourstripe Remover Philips DVD recorder
i have a macrobuster, which is a scart lead with a mains supply. it works with macrovision, but i dont know about a philips dvd recorder. i bought from www.sonel.com.
RE: Which Scart lead?
i bought "silver series" from lektropacks £14.95 each. i know you can buy a better. they are all i could afford at the time. if my wife could see the difference and hear better sound they must be good. she knows nothing about audio or picture quality she was happy with the one`s that came with my vcr. etc. iam trying to educate her about the finer points of audio and picture quality. she thought it was a waste of money at first.
RE: Lenoxx Sound HT 500 Home Theatre System - £129 @ Safeway from 18th Dec
it sounds as though the macrovision is kicking in, this happens when you try to connect a dvd player to a video. try connecting direct to your tv. not through your video. if you can disable macrovision then there should be no problems.
RE: VHS question.............
i did mean pricebuster, and they used to have a svhs for £1.09 i can`t remenber the make. when i first bought my svhs. i bought 3 180`s from dixon`s they where £15.00 for 3. so if you buy 10 at a time it is still cheaper roughly inc postage. £40.00.
RE: Taping
i have a scart with a macrovision buster built in. it is just like a normal scart. but has a mains lead on one end. and it works perfectly i can also copy sky box office events/ movie`s. can get you the web address if you want ? cost me £30.00. well worth it
RE: VHS question.............
i have a jvc s.vhs and i use jvc s.vhs tapes and the picture is superb. i don`t use e.t there is some compatibilty problems with other vhs machine`s. i buy my tapes from pricebuster`s prices start from £.1.09 their website.www.pricebuster.org.co.uk
RE: Bi-wiring...
just make sure that the normal polarity is ok. i.e + to + - to -and the same on the speakers.and make sure that there is no crossover between them. and no stray bits of wire touching.
RE: Connecting with a lack of scarts
i would put your digibox and vcr on the same scart i.e scart 1, from digibox scart to t.v then from digibox decoder/ av to vcr input/output scart. then you have a spare scart on tv. use that for dvd.if you want to record from dvd to vcr. then it is more difficult. i have a switching box but you have to carefull has some are not compatible with rgb. when using a switching box make sure that either the digibox or the dvd is on standby. otherwise you will have no picture from one of the devices. i have a scart with a built in macovision buster to my dvd/ and digibox, so i can copy dvd`s and sky box office and it all works ok.
RE: Anyone know about female to female scart connectors?
biteman, thanks. i will check it out.
