Apparently this is down to Visa putting up interchange fees on transactions.

EU put a cap on this, so it's not happening there, just in the UK.

you can get an Amazon Mastercard, i guess they'll get a lot of applications today, especially with £40 gift card!

My bank switched my debit card from Visa to Mastercard early this year and I was very frustrated as I knew the details off by heart and now I don't, so this is actually something that doesn't affect me thankfully.

They'll still take Visa debit - that isn't affected, it's just Visa credit card payments.

Just thinking, we've got a card payment terminal - I wonder if Visa are going to put up our transaction costs?

An easy workaround would be to get a Curve card and assign your Visa credit card to it.
