RE: Live action Cowboy Bebop incoming, Nov Netflix

Best to watch the show without having seen the anime.

Comparisons will tend to be unfavourable, deserved or not. Cowboy Bebop fans have already created new cesspools on social media.

RE: Live action Cowboy Bebop incoming, Nov Netflix

I missed posting the teaser earlier as it was just a little too cheesy,

but now the final trailer is out and it looks a lot more promising…

RE: The 100 greatest TV series of the 21st Century

Those three are all 20th Century TV shows.

Although I have to admit that all those lists did was prove to me how little I watch ‘broadcast’ TV these days.

Okay... now I really want to watch this. They made Paul Rudd look like he's aging. How much did they spend on that CGI?

Still doesn't look great, but the tone and atmosphere is closer to what I'd expect from Blade Runner. I wouldn't mind suspending my disbelief if they get the story right.

RE: [VIDEO] Brexit

Couldn't get into my local Morrisons for a weekly shop, because they had just had a delivery of petrol, and the cars were queueing up for a mile. The tenants of that particular retail park won't be doing a lot of business today, unless the customers walk there.

All the people who couldn't get the fuel they desperately needed over the weekend because of the 'imbeciles' are themselves the 'imbeciles' today. While the imbeciles responsible for all this pop up on TV to lie to our faces telling us there's no problem.

RE: Babylon 5 Reboot

Only recently finished rewatching the original series... currently alternating my way through Crusade (interleaved with discs from the original BSG). Come to think of it, BSG got a worthy remake, but I'm not sanguine about a remake of Babylon 5. Is it really necessary? What was the original lacking that demands a second try?

One question that needs asking is, why does the British public believe the exact opposite of what their government tells them?

Why is this government still the government given that?

I’ve been so sceptical about this, but they’ve just posted the opening credits, using the original anime theme tune, and damn if I‘m not feeling a little frisson…

How do you get a moron to panic? Tell 'em not to.

Popped out for a bit, and they're queueing around the block for fuel.

A bit of fruit and veg down the market if you're wondering. Human fuel, not car fuel

RE: RIP: Sir Clive Sinclair dies aged 81

Veritable genius who couldn't quite see things through. It seemed to always take someone else, or a further innovation to make his ideas work. The pocket calculator, the digital watch, and the pocket TV all needed the LCD to be viable (although we're happy to charge our smartwatches every night now). Can you image what the C5 could have been like with modern electric motors and lithium batteries? And the home computer really needed a proper keyboard.

Which makes the Spectrum the outlier, as it succeeded even with the rubber keys, with millions of units sold.

Typically when I was a kid, I usually got the opposite of what I asked for, and my disappointment was palpable when I got a 48k Spectrum instead of a Commodore 64. It didn't take long before I realised that it was just as capable at gaming, and maybe a little more in some genres, and it was a lot more user friendly when it came to BASIC programming. So much so that at the first opportunity, I upgraded to a 128k+.

I always wished that he'd held onto the Spectrum and not sold it to Amstrad, as the upgrade path stalled with Alan Sugar. His idea of upgrades was to keep the internals the same and just change the aesthetics. Instead we might have had something like the Next 20 years ago.

RE: What were you doing on 9/11?

I'd popped out briefly to buy a DVD actually. Whatever it was, I came back empty-handed to see the close-up of a skyscraper on fire.

I briefly thought it was Canary Wharf before the camera pulled back and revealed the World Trade Centre. 10 minutes after that, the second plane hit, and for the rest of the day, the world just stopped.

I think it was that night, or maybe the next that the BBC had the most out of touch, misplaced Question Time ever.
