Been a better year I thought for album releases with a few big players bringing some ear candy out - my Top 5 are:-

1) Metallica - Death Magnetic
2) AC/DC - Black Ice
3) Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night
4) Guns N` Roses - Chinese Democracy
5) Queen - The Cosmos Rocks

Others that didn`t make it that are worth a mention:-

SlipKnot - All Hope Is Gone
The Sword - Gods Of The Earth
BB King - One Kind Favor
Cavalera Conspiracy - Inflikted
Gary Moore - Close As You Get
Seasick Steve - I Starteed Out With Nothin`...
Stone Gods - Silver Spoons & Broken Bones

In no particular order:

1) Kings of Leon- Only By The Night
2) The Racontuers- Consolers of the Lonely
3) MGMT- Ocacular Spectacular
4) Vampire Weekend- Vampire Weekend
5) Oasis- Dig Out Your Soul


Again noticeable mention for Seasick Steve.

Others from me were:

Hot Chip- Made In The Dark
Last of the Shadow Puppets- Age of the Understatement
The Killers- Day and Age
Lil Wayne- Tha Carter 3
The Game- LAX

I`ll probably update this later as I`m sure I`m missing a few out.


I am please in that I saw nearly all of the people mentioned above this year, so I`ve done quite well gigwise although it`s died off recently. :(

3) Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns
4) Sara Bareilles - Little Voice

I have no 5) as that`s all I`ve really enjoyed this year, the others that sprang to mind turned out to have come out on 2007. :)

I think this year has been quite poor. Was trying to think of 5 albums I bought this year, and couldn`t. I had forgotton about Raconteurs new one, that was v good. REMs was good. Only CD I remember buying was Mevins - Nude with Boots (that`s probably `cos I saw them last weekend 3 times over 3 days at ATP :) ). So until I go through all my amazon and play emails from the year to see what else I bought, I only have 3 :(

new Slipknot and Metallica were OK, both v forgettable, no stand out tracks, can`t remember anything about either CD.

edit - just remember my mate lent me Angles by Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, that was excellent, easily best CD of the year IMHO
