Loan company call harassment

RJS (undefined) posted this on Wednesday, 20th November 2013, 23:14

A friends low life ex used her mobile number with one of these payday loan companies a few months ago, and now they won't stop calling her.

Even though she has no contact number for him, and tells them that, they still keep calling her every day and say they won't stop.

Does anyone know how to stop them?

"MrNumber" is a great android app for blocking calls & text messages.

Caller display and don't pick up. Or pick up and either hang up immediately or shove it under a cushion and go for a walk.

Despite being registered with TPS I get calls daily from either 'number unavailable' 0 or 0110. Even a local number as some now route through them to try and fool you.
Basically if I don't recognise the number I don't pick up.

EDIT: Thanks dkuk2000. Mr Number now installed on my mobile.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

"Despite being registered with TPS"

The statistics are that if you've registered with TPS, the likelihood of receiving nuisance calls actually increases

Depends on the OS Rob.  Android will allow you to automatically reject certain numbers.

It's an old iPhone 3S. :/

Not answering isn't really an option, as the number is always unavailable so she can't tell if it's them or a health visitor, etc.

Not practical really.

It doesn't help but I'm in the same position with a debt collector for British Gas about a Mount Anvil gas bill!!!  I tried for months speaking to the companies and BG but it was a waste of time.  3 years later and I'm still getting them.  Once your number is in the system it just keeps getting passed around! If she starts getting texts messages on O2 forward them to 7726 and O2 flag them as SPAM.

A whistle. Everytime they call blow it loud and long. They soon get the message.

If she can get an address, send them a letter similar to the third one here:

Hope that helps. Failing that, have a peek over at consumeractiongroup forums - they'll definitely have the answer.
