Page 1 of Another rape charge from years ago

Bill Roache has been charged with 2 counts of rape dating back to 1967.

He will not appear in Corrie until it`s all over, if again. It`ll be interesting to see how this one goes. We seem to be having a new scandal about one celeb or another almost every week now. I really don`t know what to think.

I`m thinking Witch trials and McCarthyism.

IN MADNESS YOU DWELL

Part of me thinks there must be a lot of people who were abused back when people in power could get away with it much easier than they can now, and it's great that they are finally getting their chance of justice.

And then another part of me thinks, it was so long ago, there can't be much evidence remaining beyond one person's word against another... and some innocent people are going to have lives ruined.

I don`t know what the sentencing recommendations are but it won`t surprise me if his brief gets him off doing any time.
Ruin of reputation, ending of any contracts, no further possibility of work. Maybe even throw in a plea of ill health bought on by stress.

Pretty soon there will be no vintage telly left, A wodge of Top of the Pops won`t ever be seen again cos of you know who. A certain Saturday evening kids show may be left in the vault depending on how one case pans out. Look`s like we`ll never see It`s a Knockout again, unless it`s the one with Royals, and a whole lot of Corrie will be wiped from public consciousness.

I`m totally disappointed in Stuart Hall. He was a big presence on TV through my youth with It`s A Knockout and Look North. I take no pleasure whatsoever in the thought of him doing bird for any of this, just desperately let down.

I feel Yewtree has been a witch hunt, and that the name has been fitting because, like the Yew tree it has been a poisonous thing.

With these ancient accusations of rape, you begin to wonder are these `so called victims` in it to get the money out of these rich celebs. I am sure that`s what it is all about.

They are all lining up to get Jimmy Savilles money, (and other celebs money as well). They are just as bad as him.

When you are taking way back in the 70`s, where are they getting real proof from, surely it cannot be relied upon?

Its time to nip this in the bud now, as stated above by another member, it all becoming total McCarthyism.
