I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
It`s the woolworths effect. Failing to keep up with online traders. Large shops like these will sion be a rare breed, mainly due to the overheads that online retailers don`t have

They must spend the money on rent, because they sure don`t spend them on staff or training.
On a related note, did you see that the guy from Dixons who joined Apple to expand their stores more worldwide has been got rid of 6 months later, because his idea of quality staff differed from Apple`s? He wanted smaller workforces with less training.
I think in this day and age high street retail needs to actually offer good service to survive, not cheap service.

Also their prices are in the main higher than Currys.
Bought a washing- machine at the weekend and same machine was £220 in Currys, and £265 in Comet. We bought the one in Currys and get it delivered next Tuesday.

Comet have always been crap. Terrible, confrontational staff, high prices... hardly surprising they`re in trouble. I was in there the other day looking at dishwashers and witnessed some overbearing little scrote trying to sell a £60 HDMI cable to go with a 32" 720p HDTV. This was to an eyeglass-wearing pensioner.
Still, my first IT job was working on a rollout for Comet, so I had a few quid out of them.

Worked for them years back.
The main motto was sell it anyway you can and if a passive aggressive attitude works do it!

I hope not as i have Darty Shares...
They were part of the Kingfisher Group when i worked for Woolworths, and then Superdrug... when they bought Darty, all the money was siphoned off to build Comet and Darty, along with other purchases in Holland, Belgium, Germany... and for B&Q into China and the rest of Asia.
I can testify customer service was always a secondary consideration at Comet, and even B&Q (however the latter got better when they started employing those with a few life skills)
Fortunately them Superdrug were bought... and i went with them... since then i gave up working for a living!
RE: Comet up poo creek.
They have been offering a lot of sale goods so they must be desparate I feel for workers no matter how badly trained they are I went into comet to look at HD TV 3 staff desended on my like vultures trying to sell me a £900 3D TV INTO hate 3D makes me feel sick watching it IS eventually bought my TV from Amazon free deliverly in 48 hours the high street cannot compete with internet that is why more stores are going online I have a Morrisons down the road you cannot online shop with them but they always seem busy
Comet never took its online presence seriously. Frankly I think DSG`s days are numbered if they don`t get their act together.
