RE: Is DTS vital on a Dolby Digital AV Receiver?

Get both.. all new amps out there are DTS/DD 5.1, Dolby digital owns due too Support, Skyone will soon be DD 5.1 and NOT DTS.

So TV channels will use DD 5.1 and not DTS, other then that the Savin Private ryan is really all that shines and all u will hear:)

But still get both, was considering grabbing that cheap £150 Kenwood DTS/DD 5.1 amp from Richer sounds...

But am ditching all that crap and gonna go for a high quality stereo amp:)

RE: XBOX + import TAX

£300 !!!!!

How are the mommies and dadas gonna afford that :)

If it was resonably priced Ie £200 id consider it.

RE: Which to buy. Toshiba 210 or Pioneer 444 ?

That does seem too be the No1 complaint against the Tosh though, Drive noise. My mate claims it also...

My scan player makes no noise at all, virtually silent and this is in a small room and im right next too it too.

Another odd complaint ive heard against the tosh 210 is its not as good picture as the previous Tosh models... which sounds odd considering its pretty much one of the best pictures out there but yet all reviews claim it.

Think the next toshbia DVD player must be only months away and will most likely be alot more improved:)

RE: Plasma 42

Ahh wasnt aware of that, thought people might like too have known this bit of news.

Oh well still ill look forward too LCD flat screens and Plasma TVs, perhaps when im 50 ill be able too afford one too:)

Plasma 42" Widescreen TV for £4000

I was reading a Home cinema mag and there was a small section showing how Safeway were going too shock the industry and launch there own Plasma TV for £4000.

It was 42inch screen size/widescreen also.

Sorry cant remember what magerzine it was, and I think it was safeway or sainsbury... I was in a rush :)

It is true though, when I was reading it they said they will be shocking the industry when they launch it. I hope we see some amazing new competition, who knows give it a 2-3 years and we may see Plasma widescreens for £2000,3000. Heck they could launch a 28inch version/32inch version and the price will be even less!

RE: what widscreen tv should i get(what is the diffrence between 50hz and 100Hz?)????

Well I always prefered 50hz since the picture always looked nicer and better.

But yesterday I was in Asda checking out there widescreen collection and they had one 28inch Scheinder Widescreen 100hz TV and I looked at it and wondered why the picture was so bright and solid compared too the other Widescreen TV sets including the Philips 28inch one.

I couldnt belive it the colours were more colourful and it just looked as if it was a solid picture, it looked much better then the other 50hz TVs.

BUT then I moved close up too it and then saw the pixel/blocks and even jerkiness !

(I had no idea what hz it was)

It looked dam good from far but close up totaly disgusting, while the 50hz TVs looked smooth and nice images.

But just goes too show if one played a DVD im sure the picture would be amazing!

Not bad for a £340 TV:)

I think long term wise its wise too go 100hz if u can get a good set though.

RE: NEW SCAN SC-3000 - Review on the way !

I look forward too it, keep up the good work:)

RE: About to play with the big boy.

If I won the lotto I proberly would be worser then Andrew:)

But it aint bad if your in a good position too, u could just work for a year then perhaps go on a mega home cinema shopping spree:)

RE: NEW SCAN - Worth shouting about?

Hmm almost £300 thats priced in the medium/high endish category.

with inbuilt DTS/DD 5.1 looks impressive, but the reviews is what counts.

RE: HELP !! Do I keep the Toshiba 210 or do I give it back?

Id love too go with the toshiba BUT noisy drive IMO makes it the worst dvd player so Pioneer gets my vote.

But still dont understand why everyone says get Tosh and use the component connection if its available on the TV, I hear that RGB is just as good anyhow....

But then again RGB connections are limited as it is...

RE: Philips 32PW6515 - Techie Question!!!

Arent Toshibas top of there field in picture quality?

I keep hearing there component connections are amazing.

I like the looks of this TV:

RE: Toshiba SD210, Pioneer DV-444 or Sony DVP-NS400. Tough Choice!

This is the first time ive heard of a fairly good tosh 210 review:)

Every single DVD review ive read scored 5/5 or 10/10, and scooped at least 1 award.

im gonna wait for the toshiba next one up, since a loud dvd player isnt a DVD player at all!

RE: Toshiba SD210, Pioneer DV-444 or Sony DVP-NS400. Tough Choice!

I read a DVD magerzine yeserday and read up on the Pioneer DV-444, it was brilliant in picture/sound under DVD, but failed with sub par Cd audio performance.

Still scored high, but from what I rememebr the Toshiba was just an amazing cd player as well:)

RE: Info on Toshiba 210e

I know the Toshiba 210e is getting all the buzz and awards but id seriously take a look at the new Pioneer model:

http://www.homecinemaheaven.com/prod_info/dvd/dv444.htm

230 quid macros off and mutliregional.

Im just waiting for some reviews of it:)

But some people are taking note of this new player.

Slimmer, doesnt make much noise unlike the noisy Toshiba 210, and no mp3 flawed playback. If its picture/sound is just as good, looks like this player will be the new Top Dogg.

RE: Amplifier/receiver

hmm now that looks like a good amp !

Hows the Bass and Treble?
Are there any good reviews on the net, cos id like too find out if it does DTS/Dolby digital etc etc

Thx in Advance

RE: Toshiba SD210E - urgent honest opinions!

Hmm aint seen any reviews on that one, but really im starting too think Picture/Sound is what matters most.

I still will wait for the upgrade Tosh cos I dont like the idea of a DVD player being so noisy :)

RE: Toshiba SD210E - urgent honest opinions!

Well ive got the scan and no blockiness/pixels here :)

But am wondering if the Tosh 210 is really worth getting over it though...

I got a feeling its gonna be the same picture sound quality...
but please post if its any good or not !

RE: New Mini CD/Mp3 Player!!

Hmm not bad think ill wait for the next gen models too appear :)

but these mini cds do look sweet!

RE: New Mini CD/Mp3 Player!!

Now this does look impressive !!!!!

£100 quid? so its well priced then !

I wonder if those cds can be played back on normal cd-roms/dvd roms or even DVD players?

If it can then this tiny portable device looks like a standard for sure.
Never did like Minidisc/carts or any of that crap.

RE: what is the best brand of cdr s to use in the Samsung SV-DVD1E ?

That could either be a hardware/software DVD player fault or the brand of the cd.

Your best off trying a few different CD-r brands...

RE: Best possible DVD player for max. £200

http://homepages.force9.net/grahamash/magic/tos210.html

Tosiba 210e

Currenty the best rated DVD player going, its scooped all the awards up for one thing, can do everything u listed.

Every review ive checked rates its picture/sound quality at 5/5 no questions asked.

Apparantly its beating nearly all the £500-600 dvd players out there and its only 200 quid :)

Only became the best DVD player recently though.

Only one bad thing about it is the drive has been noted too be Noisy...
So id listen too it first.

I asked a question on another forum about how it performs up against Scan player(I got that one) and the Cyberhome and other budget players
and heres the reply:

http://www.avforums.com/frame.html?http://www.avforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=6

Hopefully with some luck for once ill be able too afford and get my own Tosh 210 :)

Easiest and Cheapest way too get DTS ?

Hi, I have the Sherwood R-925RDS amp, its the one from Richer sounds back in 1998 (very popular) has Dolby digital 5.1 and 100x5.

But it doesnt have DTS, I also have a SCAN DVD player...

Whats the cheapest and best way too get DTS?

Any ideas..

RE: Come on you lot- Sony Or Toshiba???!!!!

well richer sounds/multiregionmagic.com

both do the Sony/Tosh for around 200.

RE: Come on you lot- Sony Or Toshiba???!!!!

This saturday ill have the chance too test my Scan DVD player against a Toshiba 210, since it claims too have the best image quality/sound going should be a good test. Ill be able too see the difference since ill test both DVD players at same time :)

RE: VCD advice

Yep this is actually true, u have too burn the VCD too a VCD type standard... burning it with incorrect software makes the VCD all iffy and unpredictable.

If you use Nero 5.5 use the VCD burning mode too burn VCDS, thats the only garranteed way it will run on VCD/DVD players problem free.

Adaptec and others are crap, and pointless and if u burn VCDS with Adaptec or incorrectly it will not exactly run properly it not at all.

RE: VCD advice

Cool let us know how it turns out !

RE: VCD advice

Id definatly get down too smiths just read all the dvd/tech mags :)

The wharfedales not a bad player either.

But then the Tosh 210 has scooped every possible award out there....

Richer sounds got em

http://www.multiregionmagic.co.uk

This companies got em...

Ive got my scan DVD player... and like 100 vcds here:) but quality really counts.

Although im not sure how much difference in picture there is between my Scan dvd player and a Tosh...

RE: VCD advice

tosh 210

Thats currently the best DVD player for under £200, u can check the reviews in the mags:)

http://homepages.force9.net/grahamash/magic/tos210.html

Says it does CD-R/CD-RW and mp3/VCD as well.

But I hear the drive can be noisy...

RE: Come on you lot- Sony Or Toshiba???!!!!

You better read the latest What hi-fi mag, i think its that one anyhow.. does a review of the tosh, sony one... both hit 5/5 so u better check !

Sony one looks good though...

RE: reccomend a budegt w/s tv.

http://www.boxclever.co.uk/frameset1.htm

28inch Philips widescreen Ex-rental only 250 quid :)

Might conisder it myself.
