Plasma 42" Widescreen TV for £4000

HighlandeR (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 15th December 2001, 14:23

I was reading a Home cinema mag and there was a small section showing how Safeway were going too shock the industry and launch there own Plasma TV for £4000.

It was 42inch screen size/widescreen also.

Sorry cant remember what magerzine it was, and I think it was safeway or sainsbury... I was in a rush :)

It is true though, when I was reading it they said they will be shocking the industry when they launch it. I hope we see some amazing new competition, who knows give it a 2-3 years and we may see Plasma widescreens for £2000,3000. Heck they could launch a 28inch version/32inch version and the price will be even less!

Hello there,

You can get a very good Fujitsu 42" plasma for just over £4000 all ready. Incase you haven`t heard of the name they are the world leaders plasma screens. Most plasmas you look at are either a Fujitsu or LG based.

A few years down the line I think it will be LCD flat screens up to 28" and plasma over that.

All the best,

Andrew.

Hello.

What is interesting is that suppermarkets feel that they will be able to sell a product that is normally only found in specialist retailers. They have allready proved sucsesfull at selling DVD`s and TV`s. But these were at a price point where you could add them to your weekly shopping on your credit card. £4000 is a little bit different. All though any thing that gets these new technologes known to a wider audiance can only be a good thing. (including small inderpendents like myself)

All the best,

Andrew

Not that I`m interested in one but how do these compare?
The likes of Daewoo, Relisys and JVC for between £1500 and £2200.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..
