LotR: The Two Towers Extended Edition DVD Scenes! (Spoilers!)

Ok, we`ve got a year to go till this everyone, but thats not gonna stop me popping up a listing of scenes that will most probably be included in the extended version of the film. This info is based upon various spoiler heavy reviews that have been popping up all over the web. I`m sure more will pop up as we go along... imagine how much stuff must have been shot for Helm`s Deep!

Anyway, those additional scenes that most definately aren`t in the theatrical cut:

- Smeagol`s backstory, as we see in flashback his `finding` of the ring, and the 500 year evolution it causes in him. (Andy Serkis, who shot the seaquence as Smeagol will gradually become Gollum through the use of prosthetic make up)
- More stuff in Rivendell involving Arwen and Elrond. A shot in the final trailer of Arwen running and dropping a cloak behind her as she runs through one of Rivendell`s garden`s to her father backs this up, as it does not appear in the film.

- More stuff during the battle at Helm`s Deep, including:

- Eowyn taking on Orcs and Uruk Hai in the caves beneath the fortress (a shot of this appears in the 10 minute preview on the theatrical DVD of Fellowship, yet it doesn`t appear in the final film.)

- The Ents finishing off all escaping enemies at the conclusion of the battle. Official books, including the TT visual companion make reference to this, but in the theatrical cut the battle ends as soon as Gandalf arrives. Many reviewers state that the end of the battle feels too clean cut and wrapped up. (Pure speculation) PJ probably was under pressure to bring it in under 3 hours, and besides, we see other Ents trashing Isengard in the film, so we`ll just have to believe Gandlaf can open a huge can of whoop-ass! (end speculation)

RE: Wallace & Gromit

lol, Mark, they`re on DVD on monday from www.cd-wow.co.uk too! :D

RE: Wallace & Gromit

I`m guessing ur talking about the 3 original films here, not the new Cracking Contraptions collection. (That is available exclusively from www.cdwow.co.uk)

Now, R1 is the one to go for.

Nick Park commentary on all 3 films, Nick Park`s early films, a documentary, and more stuff

The R2 has naff all extras ;)

RE: SIMPSONS SEASON 3 - DECEMBER 2nd... or is it?

Its not due now until Febuary time, be patient... ;)

RE: Men in Black II and The Duellists are instock at Play.com

lol, however...

I`m not one to stoop as low as Adam Sandler loving...

RE: Where is the Two Towers preview on LOTR 4 disc?

and its a 3 minute trailer.

The 10 minute preview is on the Theatrical version

RE: Men in Black II and The Duellists are instock at Play.com

Oh I agree, I thought the film was quite weak actually... I felt the same about Spidey, but bought that too, so go figure! Badish films, cool DVDs... lol

Men in Black II and The Duellists are instock at Play.com

Much to my suprise as well.

I checked how my order of Glengarry Glen Ross was doing at 7.30, came back at 11.30 and was shocked to see that MIIB and Duellists had also been processed, packed AND dispatched in the 4 hours inbetween!!

RE: Bond - The Living Daylights! Can not find it!

Might be no help, but I can confirm that WH Smith Canterbury, Kent still has it instock and on the shelves...

RE: Lord Of The Rings DTS

Has everyone who commented here got Region 2?

RE: Reign of Fire R1 has an unadvertised DTS track...

Good ol` Play.com.

Watched it last nite, solid movie, the sound is awesome!

RE: This multi disc Lord of the Rings Set - why didn`t they bring this out in the first place?

Chris, I agree. I bought both because I wanted BOTH cuts. I`m not p***ed of in any way, I decided from the off, when both were announced, that I was going to buy both sets. Being a film student myself, I understand the difficulties of cutting a film down for runtime, and how it often comes down to clipping seconds out to make it fit to a specified limit.

With the theatrical and special edition cuts, I think you`ll see a great example of cutting to streamline. The theatrical is faster, whereas the SE is more expositional, and the ability to line both up side by side to compare is, in the case of this film I think, a must have.

RE: Play are

Be aware, customs are intercepting everything it seems...

Reign of Fire R1 has an unadvertised DTS track...

... if anyone is interested! :D

RE: ULTIMATE ET OR ULTIMATE RIP OFF

Wait till December 9th. Universal are reissuing the current 2 disc R2 set as a 3 disc which DOES include the Original 1982 version as well, making it identical to the 3 dvds found in the R1 ultimate edition gift set. (Which I have and rocks)

The Royal Mail, Play.com, Region 1 boxsets and delays...

OK, I noticed people have not recieved their Spidey collectors boxsets they`ve ordered from Play.com. I have ordered the R1 Band of Brothers (Gotta have DTS) from them last friday, and have yet to receive it.

Now, I wonder, has it:

a) been via customs, hence the delay
b) been pilfered by some underhand B*****d onroute

Has anyone who ordered the Region 1 BoB from Play.com gotten their`s yet? If so, how long did it take?

I sent an email to Play.com yesterday, but have yet to get any response... all I can do is hope!

RE: All postings relating to Star Wars,AOTC here please,(all users please read in)

If u had it on pre order, its due Thursday (or maybe friday thanks to good ol` Royal Mail ;))

RE: All postings relating to Star Wars,AOTC here please,(all users please read in)

Funny how Fullscreen always arrives first with them, same with Spidey...

Maybe its a case of "TAKE IT! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TAKE IT!"

RE: Spider-Man, Lord of The Rings, A.O.T.C. ..which Edition are you buying?

Spiderman - S.E (Region 1 - Play.com)

Lord of the Rings Extended (Region 1 - Movietyme)

A.O.T.C. (Region 1 - Movietyme)

RE: E.T. Ultimate gift set or Ultimate disapointment

All the goodies more than make up for it... and THOSE transfers... GOLLY!!!

RE: All postings relating to Star Wars,AOTC here please,(all users please read in)

Movietyme have it in stock and are due to start shipping in the next few days (maybe hours!)

*fingers crossed*

RE: T2 R2 second disc morphing T1000 head

Yup, thats on R1 too... ;p

RE: Free Multi-Region PC DVD Software (Sort Of)

Well, I`ve got the Phantom Menace Region 1 which comes with this software and installed on my DVD drive (which is apparently multi region anyway, but it doesn`t work that way!) and it refuses to play any of my R1 DVDs...

RE: Shrek R4 is 1 disc set!

I agree... got it today, top notch! Alas, The Phantom Menace still rules the roost in terms of features! All the docs on Shrek are self preening pieces...

RE: Godfather box set

Yes, picture quality is bad at times, but a marked improvement over VHS nonetheless. And part II is on two discs, but I don`t mind that at all... it IS an awfully long film and the break is at a natural point in the storyline. Extras though are fantastic, and its very well presented in the sturdiest boxset yet produced I think...

RE: SONY HTK-475 HOME THEATRE KIT SILVER

Yeah, thats great mate! Thanks! Just another thing... what cables do u get supplied (length etc) as my lounge is a bit of an odd shape...

RE: Has anyone received Swordfish from Play yet?

Darn, this makes me feel better... now I`m presented with the chance of my copy of Shrek being pinched by some sod at the post office (it happens!) ;)

RE: Has anyone received Swordfish from Play yet?

Well I had Shrek posted on 24/10 at 20.20 and I haven`t got that this morning. SO I think airmail must be on the blink again... all about patience!
