Page 1 of E.T. Ultimate gift set or Ultimate disapointment

In the immortal words of Christpher Walken in True Romance, `Your telling me everything, but your showing me nothing`. I feel the same way when I was looking through E.T ultimate edition which I received yesterday.

There is no deleted scenes section, and the only deleted scenes they show is during a documentry but they are only for a few seconds and Speilberg is talking over them.

There is only one theatrical trailer on each of the disc, which I am sure they had tons of theatrical trailers on its first release, and also TV hotspots, radio spots etc.

Also on the laser disc they had an alternative ending to the film, which is not on any of the dics.

I am sure they could of got rid of the soundtrack and replaced it with a second extras disc, instead of this Total Axess thing.

Does anyone else feel ripped off.

what was the alternative ending?? And secondly why the hell didnt they put THAT on the dvd - probably a super deluxe collectors edition on the way!

According to *some* reports, after Speilberg releases the 3-disc edition of E.T. - which includes the original UNTOUCHED version of the film later in the year, he will then set about compiling MORE footage for a SUPER-special 4-disc version for 2003!!!!!

Here are the scenes that are not on the DVD according the IMDB.com.

In the original theatrical release of this film, in the scene where E.T. is drinking and getting Elliot drunk, Elliot used chalk and began drawing on thin air. This scene was later cut from video and subsequent theatrical releases, but is pictured in The E.T. Storybook.


In the original cut, Elliot and his mom go to the principal after the frog incident. The principal was played by Harrison Ford, the screenwriter`s husband. Allegedly the scene was cut because too much attention was brought to Ford, and not to the scene.

And the alternative ending is....

The deluxe laserdisc version included an alternate ending. After the ship has taken off, the kids are shown playing Dungeons and Dragons once more, but this time Elliott is in charge. The camera starts above them, makes a long rise up to the ceiling, and then out through the skylight. On the roof is the device they made to "phone home," calling out once more into space.

Also there is no isolated audio track of John William`s original music score.

I really hate that u think you are buying the ULTIMATE package of everything ET and yet you find that there is this, this and this flying around in movie limbo just for the oppurtunity to rip all dedicated fans off once again! Why oh why oh why! The alternative ending sound greats great and would have rounded the movie off really nicely, what a shame hey!
