Samsung HT-DS110 region hacked using HT-DM150.
I thought that I would share this bit of information with you all.
Recently bought the Samsung HT-DS110 Home Cinema setup from Currys as part of a package with the 43" Samsung Rear Projection TV.
The region hack for the HT-DM150 worked on my HT-DS110. One small point is that the disc drive does NOT eject, instead the unit says "goodbye" and switches itself into Standby.
Our unit was originally a Region 2 system. Successfully tested with R1 and R4 discs.
RE: DVD R1, R2, R4 Comparison Database
Thats the site.
DVD R1, R2, R4 Comparison Database
I had a link to a brilliant site that compared the R1 and R2 dvd`s and had started 3 way comparison with R4
Anybody know what site I am on about??
Any alternative links would be nice aswell.
LG3350 I found one but should I......
I have found 1 at least in my local town but they are £250 which is a bit steep compared to what dabs have em (but don`t have em) at.
Are they that rare? should I grab it now?
RE: VCD & SVCD for LG3350 & AIWA 370
oooo my money is burning a hole in my pocket!!!
RE: Scratched Disks
I would imagine that the scratches would be similar to cd`s and that the picture/sound will jump.
There are a few cleaning and repair kits out there at some of the dvd sellers.
Anybody suggest a specific repair kit?

RE: Good experiences of Techtronics?
Ok
_007 I had just had a sh*tty Project Management lecture before reading the thread.
But I still stand by what I said. I might not be the only one reading the thread but its annouying that the only replies (several from the same people) were just negative. Yes they have the right to do so but to post several msg`s instead of one.
Anyway the reason I want some GOOD responses is if the only possible way to get this player with INBUILT macrovision disabled then Techtronics are the ONLY people that sell it modded. Yes I have asked around (on this forum) about external demacro boxes and im looking into this as a possible alternative. In fact I would say now that Im more likely to get the player with an external demacro box if Jimbo is up and ready to sell his VCD modded player macro disabled or not.
Finally nobody is being rude and I hope that Im not either. Just speaking my mind.

RE: LG3350E + External Demacro
Ok will have to try that when I get the player.
Jimbo ,to save me emailing you again, will you be posting here when you are ready to open up shop?
One of your LG`s VCD would be nice (even better if u can save me an external demacro box).
Thanks
RE: LG3350E + External Demacro
I will have to check this but I thought that some vcr`s were able to record either pal or ntsc
Not to worry I guess that would mean outputting the signal in a pal format. Not a hard job.
RE: Good experiences of Techtronics?
In regard to retailers that charge a restocking fee... I think that you will find most retailers will charge some fee for returning items that they regard as fully working. I can include SCAN and DABS do this and others will also do the same if they don`t experience the same problems that you might have at home.
On the other hand there are some companies that don`t charge the restocking fee and will provide you with a specific period with a "no questions/quibble" policy but I think you will find that this is often explotied and is still liable to specific conditions apon return.
RE: Good experiences of Techtronics?
Ok first off thanks for the posts guys but its pretty obvious that you didn`t read the Heading!!
I would really appreciate that somebody gives me help on what I asked than to repeat what was posted in the Avoid post earlier. I have read this post and don`t really want to read these comments again.
Brian I would also like to point out that Link Electronics don`t actually sell the LG 3350e on their site (or at least its not listed on the web site) so it wasn`t any help to me.
Don`t take this the wrong way but I think that a lot of the replies on these forums do go off topic and that does spoil them.
** Note **
I am no longer looking at getting the LG3350E from Techtronics any longer and instead considering getting the player seperately from Dabs or elsewhere and fitting an external demacro box. Please can any further comments on this be posted to:

LG3350E + External Demacro
I was intending to order this player from Techtronics but for several reasons I am not thinking I would be better off buying the demacro unit and player seperately.
Is there any specific demacro unit that is best to get and where could I pick one of these up from?
Do the demacro boxes work for all DVD regions? I guess that if its R1 then I would have to make sure the output from the player to tv is made in pal format IF the vcr can`t record the ntsc signal? I have a sony vcr (one with that label chip thingy but I can`t remember the model no. atm), would this be able to record a ntsc output?
RE: Is Reg1 really that much cheaper?
I bought Fight Club 2cd set from www.dvdboxoffice.com (canada) R1 for £15.79
High street price is £24.99 and www.play247.com (Jersey) is £17.99
I bought it from dvdboxoffice cause at the moment play247 seem to be taking a while getting orders through, and I also wanted to see what the service was like from dvdboxoffice.
Good experiences of Techtronics?
I am looking to buy the LG 3350E pretty soon from them with the VCR mod chip for macrovision out disabled.
I read the avoid post earlier but I would like to hear some praise for them aswell.
Thanks
RE: Recommend an AMP
Thanks for the suggestion.
But do you know if its nescessary to get a dolby decoding amp?
Our main TV is a sony 28" (can`t get the serial off hand, 4yrs old) and has dolby surround but I think it would be better to pass the sound through and amp rather than the TV.
Recommend an AMP
Im buying the LG3350e soon and I want to buy an amp and some speakers later on.
The LG has dolby decoder built in but do I need to get an amp that does dolby decoding or will a normal amp work with the dolby output from the LG?
RE: DVDBOXOFFICE anyone?
Ordered FightClub off them on 10th, Invoiced on sunday 14th.
I should imagine it would be with me by friday or maybe monday next week.
RE: SERIOUSLY THIS TIME!! VCD/CDR/CDRW/MP3 AND DVD WITH MULTI REGION but it aint the 3350
Do you know if you could perform this upgrade on a Techtronic`s modded player for a nominal fee??
It would give u the chance to see the inside of the Techtronic`s and peek at the mod chip.
RE: confused on LG3350E!!!
Apparently Jimbo has now enalbed VCD on the LG3350e but not disabled macrovision.
Techtronic`s sell the LG3350e with a hardware modchip for disabled macrovision but no VCD.
The normal players do not have any hacks for disabling macro or vcd.
So best bet would be to either wait for jimbo to do demacro or buy a techtronic`s and ask nicely (with a bit of a cash tip) for jimbo to help u make it VCD capable.
RE: buying from abroad region 1?
At the moment its slightly cheaper to pay in Canadian Dollars at dvdboxoffice.
RE: OK, SERIOUS
Find & crack an LG3350e with mac disabled and vcd working and the cash is yours =)
RE: For ITTrol and other LG owners..the VCD issue
I think u are supposed to get access to a menu list for the mp3`s on the LG.
Take a look at ITTroll`s site (link above)
RE: mIRC chat channel???
Is there any outside channels that are worth a visit?
mIRC chat channel???
Anybody here recommend a mIRC chat channel that is worth a visit?
Is there one for DVD Reviewer?
If not then it would be a good idea to set one up.
RE: buying from abroad region 1?
Most new films are released first in USA thus R1
R1 often are uncut or contain cut footage on the R2 we get in Europe
RE: Customs & Excise - How much if they catch ya?
I am going to buy:
Fight Club R1 which is £17.99 @ play247 (slightly less at dvdboxoffice)
Leon International Uncut R1 again £17.99 @ play (slightly less at dvdboxoffice)
Total cost at following stores:
HMV (Region 2, Not Identical releases) £37.98
Play247 £35.98
DvdBoxOffice US Dollars $50.28 = £33.82
DvdBoxOffice Canadian Dollars $72.90 = £32.62
