Scratched Disks

DVDan (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 27th January 2001, 00:35

DVDs are ment to last forever, but as we all know....they dont.
Within the space of a week, there are loads of tiny scratches and marks.

But how exactly will scratches on a disc effect the the picture\sound etc of a DVD. What are the noticable effects, and when is it time to buy a polishing kit, or a new disc ?

I would imagine that the scratches would be similar to cd`s and that the picture/sound will jump.
There are a few cleaning and repair kits out there at some of the dvd sellers.
Anybody suggest a specific repair kit?
