in order to record dvd to video i assume that i need to disable macrovision - is that correct?

how do i go about this?

is there any way that i can play vcd`s on a lg3350e player?

Apparently Jimbo has now enalbed VCD on the LG3350e but not disabled macrovision.

Techtronic`s sell the LG3350e with a hardware modchip for disabled macrovision but no VCD.

The normal players do not have any hacks for disabling macro or vcd.

So best bet would be to either wait for jimbo to do demacro or buy a techtronic`s and ask nicely (with a bit of a cash tip) for jimbo to help u make it VCD capable.

Correct. You need to either buy a fully modified player from Techtronics (quite expensive), or a regular player and an external removal unit.

To get VCD on an LG 3350E you will have to buy one of Jimbo`s up `n` coming "Specials", in which case you will also need the external Macrovision defeater.

Or better still, lurk the forums spoon in hand, rather than actually adding anything constructive to the discussions :oP

Ok, surely enabling VCD playback on the LG3350e can`t be too difficult or expensive for LG!
So what I can`t understand is why the hell don`t they manufacture the damn things with VCD enabled!!! Why leave out features when they can so easily add them in with a cost of next to nothing?

007.

So that enterprising little buggers like me can have something the big boys can`t _007! lol!!

Anyways, the LG answer was "erm..hmm..well.."
nothing really, the Rep didn`t know why it wasn`t added to the players, but thinks it had something to do with piracy etc. (lots of VCD`s kicking around on CDR`s now), but it wasn`t an official answer, just a guess.

Remember, manufacturer`s are getting it in the neck BIG STYLE now for making things like "Macro Disable" an option on their players, however well hidden!
(Just ask Nelley..he recently posted that they must now ensure future firmwares do not allow macro off)

but Jimbo found a way....well, actually found a second way..thats why you could use a local repair agent..good to have mates that understand all that "programming" stuff! lol

So JIMBO, what is it we have to do to get this secret out of you! Slip you a brown envelope or come around with a hammer to test your knee reflex?

it`s not a secret isotonic, it`s a modification!!

Just that if I end up supplying players, they will already have said modification already installed!
