RE: Guitar Hero 3...what`s the song??

It`s Slither by Velvet Revolver - on their 1st album. Not in the game though.

RE: Help required re secure network

I wouldn`t have expected WEP encyption to hit your download speed that dramatically - are the PC`s old or very low spec ? Did everything return to normal once you turned off the encryption ?

You could try just filtering on MAC address if your router supports this (I think it does) . Shouldn`t be any overhead and will prevent other folk accessing your network.

RE: Setting up Wii

You`ll need a RGB enabled scart socket on your TV, some scart sockets are composite only.

If you want to use the Wii`s 480p mode than you`ll have to use component.

Anyone ever used a component switch box ? I`ve got the same problem as Ben in that mine is already used.

RE: They like a good swear in Deadwood, don`t they...

HBO aren`t just c*cksuckers, they suck c*ck by choice they do :)
no offense intended - a quote from season 2

They`re making 2 feature length eposides after season 3 finishes to wind the plot up apparently.

RE: Football Manager PSP

You wont have much cash to spend as Accrington so scour the transfer market for bargains. There are a few young kids available (usually European) that are brilliant, cost nothing and you can sell them for a fortune a few years later. Johan Iverson is one, can`t think of others offhand and my PSP is out of juice so can`t check. Make sure you get a few loan signings in as well.

Hope this helps.

RE: Deadwood boxsets

I got both seasons for 18 quid each plus a few quid postage from Ezydvd in Australia (on region 4). They`ve gone up a bit since, now about 22 quid.

The message about possible editing is also on these but can`t say I`ve spotted anything missing.

RE: The Wire - best program on tele that nobody watches ?

Glad others are watching it too. Paull, its worth sticking with a bit longer I reckon, the characters all develop personality as the show goes on, and the plot picks up.

The swearing (much like Deadwood) isn`t for everyone, but its surely more realistic than what we normally get. Was watching Criminal Minds recently - pretty good show - but there was one scene when one guy suggested he wanted to kick the snot out of another. Ruined the tension completely for me.

Oh - thanks for the heads up about spoilers on the website, will stay clear.

The Wire - best program on tele that nobody watches ?

Does anyone else on here watch The Wire ?

Just finished watching the second season on DVD, and I reckon its one of the best TV shows I`ve ever seen - easily up there with The Sopranos and Deadwood. Season 3 is currently showing on FX tv. Thing is, I don`t know anyone else who watches it. Surely I can`t be alone ?

If you`re looking for something to watch give this a go. You need to watch each series from the first episode (as you would 24 for example). Season 1 can be had for about 25 quid now.

Edit : Sorry I meant to put this in the DVD / Film forum. Doh!

RE: Joytech AV Centre and my Dreamcast.

I remember reading that if you plug the dreamcast RGB cable into a non RGB socket you could get problems - think it was in the instructions that came with the cable. No idea what the problem could be though. Is the scart socket on your Joytech thingy RGB ?

RE: DS - new smaller version?

Bloke in Game (Leeds) told me September last week. Hopefully an official announcement over the next few weeks.

RE: Slight problem with the ol` Dreamcast.

I played the Gamecube Skies of Arcadia, not bad. Think I got stuck at a boss battle and called it quits. I`m a lazy fecker these days :)

That stick does seem expensive, 30 - 40 quid and up on Ebay and Amazon marketplace. Those green buttons are a bit special, were they that colour on all ?

Sorry for the long post. Here ends my love letter to Shenmue!!

:) So you`re keen then ? I`ll give it a go definately, I`m very happy not killing things - must have clocked up 50+ hours on Harvest Moon. How long is it roughly - I thought 4 disks would take some wading through.

RE: Slight problem with the ol` Dreamcast.

Aye, I got mine in a ToysrUs bundle as well about the same time. I got a steering wheel with it, but tend to do much better on MSR with the pad.

I played House of the Dead a lot (on the look out for Confidential Mission at a decent price), and Headhunter and RE:Code Veronica got some attention, but I got a cube on release day so the Dreamcast went in the loft.

Toy Commander on Ebay for 3 quid delivered here. Few of these available, be rude not to at that price!

I`ve read a lot of mixed views on Shenmue, some say its the best thing ever, other that its just dull. Guess I`ll find out :). Did you play the second one also ?

RE: Best PC Game 4 Broadband Connection

Enemy Territory is a good place to start - and its free :)

RE: Slight problem with the ol` Dreamcast.

I never really got on with Jet Set Radio. It looks and sounds great, but I never got hooked. Might give it another go.

I got my Dreamcast very late in its life, and moved onto a Gamecube pretty quickly after so never really gave it a fair shot. It`s getting some hammer at the moment though (as is my credit card). Picked up Shenmue yesterday, looking forward to that. Never heard of Toy Commander before, worth a punt ?

You got an arcade stick for those fighters Mark ?

RE: Slight problem with the ol` Dreamcast.

What are you playing on the DC at the moment (or in Matthews case, what were you planning on playing) ?

Well into Ikaruga at the moment, never played it first time round. My loss, its brilliant.

RE: Nintendo Wii (Was Revolution!)

Can`t believe they`ve named it Wii (pronouced we) - you can hear the school ground slating already.

RE: So... what are you playing just now?

Just bought Football Manager for the PSP. Bit of a gamble as I`ve not seen any reviews yet. Anyone else played it ?

RE: Are these the cheapest Memory Stick Pro Duo?

Looks a good price - Amazon are selling the 1GB for 37 quid at the moment. I paid 50 quid for one in January and thought I was getting a right bargain.

RE: Dragon Quest 8 and others.........treats for RPG fans.

Aye, I`m not too sure about the battle system either. Just started playing it last night, hoping as I get used to it things will improve but at the moment the battle system seems to just be button hammering.

They seem to have done a good job on keeping the loading times down thankfully.

RE: Dragon Quest 8 and others.........treats for RPG fans.

Aye, I`ve been eyeing up a PS2 for some time now - problem is I`ve a stack of Gamecube games that I`ve barely touched, not enough hours in the day. The Nippon Ichi games really appeal as well (I`ve played pretty much every tactics type game on the GBA) - have you played those ?

RE: *****STICKY**** General Anime Thread

Metropolis is also very good.

RE: Dragon Quest 8 and others.........treats for RPG fans.

I`ve always fancied playing the Level 5 RPGs (like Rogue Galaxy), but don`t own a PS2 so so I`m nacked. The do look superb though.

Have you played any of the PSP RPGs that have come out recently ? I`ve just taken the plunge with Tales of Eternia, bit worried as it`s had mixed reviews.

RE: Tunisia

We had a bad experience in Tunisia a few years back, stay at Skanes near Monastir. Place was ok, but the whole family were poorly. Not your average spanish tummy either, I was off work for a fortnight on my return. Seems a fairly common experience judging by the folk I`ve spoken to since.

This may have been a one off but I doubt we`ll go back to find out.

RE: Multiregion dvd drive for Inspiron 6000

I use DVD Region Killer (v2.7) with my LG drive - available here

RE: *****STICKY**** General Anime Thread

Does anyone know if ITV are planning to regularly show anime ? Ghost in the Shell is repeated tonight by the way.

Rapture TV (Sky 193 I think) are showing bits of anime. Both Full Metal Alchemist and Wolf`s Rain are on Sunday nights from about 8.00 ish. Picture quality is a bit poor mind.

RE: *****STICKY**** General Anime Thread

Can`t see the Firefly link myself, but its a few years since I watched Cowboy Bebob. Will have to dig it out again. Play.com were selling the Bebob movie for about 6 quid recently I think.

Samurai Champloo by the same team is also excellent, nothing like Firefly however :)

Deadwood Season 2 - 17 quid plus postage

Deadwood Season 2 - 17 quid plus postage (£21.30 in total)
Under the 18 quid limit so no customs charge.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/785568

Currently listed at $44.83 Aussie Dollars but they`ll remove GST when shipping to UK. R4 DVD, should play fine in R2 players. Enjoy.

Cheers
Wad.

RE: Plasma or LCD....?

Aren`t Sony starting to use Samsung panels in some of their sets as well ?

I`d suggest popping down to a half decent dealer for some demos. I opted for a 32" LCD but I have a wife that didn`t want a huge TV taking over the living room. I might have taken a closer look at Plasma otherwise.
