Acoustic Solutions DVD-257 at Argos Hack Needed

Has anyone found a hack that works for the Acoustic Solutions DVD-257 which is currently at Argos for £14.99. Need a cheap player for kids room but don`t want to buy it until I know it can be made region free.

RE: ARGOS - Warning

My daughter is still waiting for a refund from them for a 3pc suite that she never took delivery of ( it wouldn`t fit through the front door). She phoned them straight away. That was 8th Nov. They keep telling her that they have not had the paperwork saying it is back in the warehouse.

RE: DVDMode.com - problem with delivery

Don`t know the procedure for returns but i have found them very good with responding to e-mail and refunding money.

RE: Cancelling my car insurance, need advice, maybe a solicitor? is this legal?!

Most companies have short term rates so when you cancel they revert to them but it does sound a bit like you have been stuffed. Are they members of the ABI. If they are try contacting them to see if their rates conform to guidlines.

They don`t have to take you to court ........ if you don`t pay they will tell all their mates ..... then where will you get insured.

RE: all these animated pop-ups are doing my head in

You have a choice about pop-ups. Visit www.panicware.com and get pop up stopper.

RE: What`s up with our rivals ? DVD Forums offline for ages now...

I can`t get on tonight ..... anyone else having problems or is it just me ?

RE: Kodak DX3900 3.1 Millon - £224.89

RE: free shipping at www.devoted.com.au

Devoted are offering free-ish shipping on selected titles. $19 in Oz or $17.29 tax free + $1.71 postage to UK (=$19)

RE: Are devoted.com.au okay?

They are a very good site. Delivery is normally around 4-5 days. The free / cheap postage is only on a limited range of titles but their prices are still good.

RE: kodak fiasco

This whole debate is not so much about a camera but more about on-line shopping in general. Many large companies have a very poor on line operation and little understanding of the internet. They seem to think that they can run a sloppy operation, put everything down to a mistake and get away with it. A high street retailer would, in many of these situations, be on the receiving end of a trading standards visit and have to prove that systems were in place to prevent it happening again.

It would also appear that many trading standards departments are not very aware of the workings of the internet and therefore are unsure of what action to take.

What would happen if a major retailer had sent a brochure which contained a major error to every home in the country. They would put notices in store or maybe even in the press, not forget about it and start screaming that it was everybody elses fault when it exploded in their faces.

RE: Cheap electricals

Could you tell us where !! :-)

RE: Kodak digital camera worth £300 for £100 PLUS loads of accessories

top cat

Why was it obviously a mistake ? I work in retail and quite regularly shift stock at 50 - 75% off rrp .... even £1200 rrp items.

Yes everybody is allowed to make a mistake. If goods in my shop are mistakenly incorrectly priced I have to prove to trading standards that there are systems in place to minimise and rectify these mistakes to avoid prosecution. Kodak obviously did not have any sort of system in place so they should shut up and put up.

RE: Same??

In a word .......... YES

RE: mvc/streetsonline

Ordered around midnight on Sunday and arrived yesterday even though they are still showing "ready to ship" on the order page !! I have always found streets very good on delivery times.

My statement said "WP-Music Trading On-Li" based in Kwun Tong. I assume the last bit of the name means on-line.

Its back to 24.99 on DVDStreet this morning !!

RE: DVD-ROM drive with 2 cds stuck inside

There should be a pin hole in the front of the drive. Gently push a paper clip in the hole to release the tray. Hope it works.

RE: Ghostbusters 1 & 2 at £7.99 each and gladiator at £9.99

Just been there .... loadsa bargains !!

RE: Help me with DVD-Rom

Go to www.firmware.fr.st for all things to do with pcdvd. A generic / unbranded drive could be difficult to crack because you need specific firmware for the drive. If you cannot identify the drive you may be stuck. Go to the site and browse the forum and you will get some ideas.

RE: Oh, God, please help -- firmware for Matshita

All firmware.fr.st links are now back up so try again

RE: ordered box set, couldn`t get them to mark as gift, should I worry?

The only problem I can see is that the US mail system is currently in a state of fear so the chance of your package being looked into is increased. That said, they will be more interested in looking for other things from other countries than worrying about getting a few dollars out of you.

ps why are you ordering from over here anyway. I thought that it was a kind of one way system for DVD`s.

RE: Freeserve home time Price Hike

There is a small note on the Hometime info page saying the price is going up on Dec 1st. They are obviously trying to push the customers onto Anytime at £12.99 where they do not have to pay a slice to BT. Hometime is operated in conjunction with BT so you cannot subscribe for just the freeserve bit which seems to be the part which is going up in price anyway.

RE: Sony Laptop - Can the DVD drive play multi-region DVDs

Go to http://www.firmware.fr.st/ for all pcdvd issues. There is a forum and links to firmware and software.

RE: Amazon Vouchers?

There is currently a £2 off £10 spend on Pringles tubs

RE: SouthPark DVD £6.62

Nope .... its the movie. I ordered my copy last night. I went for the posh p&p and its costing me £7.

Apalling service though, it took them a whole 2 hours from order to despatch :-)
