i have managed to get 2cds stuck inside my dvd rom drive (don`t ask me how) i feel like an idiot. can anyone tell me how to get them out with some sort of manual release or something like that the drive is an Acer, but model number, i haven`t the foggiest cheers

There should be a pin hole in the front of the drive. Gently push a paper clip in the hole to release the tray. Hope it works.

cheers molerat there is a pinhole, but it`s not releasing the tray when i push a paperclip inside it should the tray just slide out or what? cheers again

Hi
You have to put the paperclip in until it won`t go in any further. Then push the clip slowly against the pressure. the tray should pop out v.slowly about 5-10mm or so. Don`t be afraid to push fairly firmly.
If it doesn`t work then the tray is probably jammed. The next step is remove the drive and dismantle it. In the past, I`ve only really had to remove the topcover and put a cotton bud to the CD surface to push it onto the tray then use the paperclip to release the tray.

cheers norman got the cds out now didn`t have to dismantle the drive just oushed harder with the paperclip thanx again urban
