Sherwood, new bbc1 drama

I didn't want to put a trailer due to spoilers but this is British drama at its best, drawing on historical differences in communities going back to the miners strikes but top writing, incredibly well paced and I can't remember seeing a better British ensemble cast on TV, 1st episode was stunning I thought and if they were all loaded to the iplayer I would definitely have binge watched them all WWAW

another couple of brilliant episodes, I guess being working class and growing up in Thatchers Britain and all that entailed and remembering a lot of this and recognising the community spirit that was ripped apart it does touch a nerve with me. melding that and a fascinating murder story was always going to be a winner but the cast is just staggering and all nail their part as far as I'm concerned

I'm guessing this fits the bill by the way your all enthused by it.

Agree mbilko, it's really good.  I'm sure the writer has lots of knowledge of those times and I'm just as sure some of the wounds opened up 30+ years ago are as raw now as then - whole communities, families and friends torn apart with decisions made at the time.  Really something I'd never really considered to be the case so long after.
She knew what she wanted and was literally prepared to do anything to get it.  Yup, no such thing as society, she made sure of that time and time again..

Well that was fabulous, really great British drama, top acting and a shoe in come awards time, really clever story right to the last scene and I can't recommend it enough, and

SPOILER:
2nd season announced at the end which scares me a little, hope they dont ruin it

just finished it, need something light and fluffy now(I'm 3 episodes behind on Ms Marvel, so that will do :) ), once I started had to watch one a night, well nearly watched the last 2 Thursday but it was getting late.

One of those programmes you just get hooked into.

I had heard negative things about it being "slow", I guess you can't please all the people all the time, I mean I guess it was slow, but if they had been running around going "guv guv guv" driving through cardboard boxes I don't think it would have been the same show;)

also, yeh, your spoiler "no need".

I remember the miners' strikes happening, but didn't understand, I was too young, I remember thinking it was great, time off work, then my dad (crane driver at the time) explained that striking wasn't to be taken likely as you didn't get paid if you were striking.

Interesting and sad the way it tore friends and family apart, ppl believing they were doing the "right" thing :(
