Coming in 2018, new sci-fi series based on the book by Richard Morgan

Quote:
ALTERED CARBON is set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored in cortical stacks implanted in the spine, allowing humans to survive physical death by having their memories and consciousness "re-sleeved" into new bodies.

The pilot is directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who is best known for helming the Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards episodes of Game of Thrones.

Ah but is it really you.
Many a Si fi theme does this......lets put you in a new body.

So if you transfer memory, mannerisms and some sort of consciousness to another body, does your actual 'soul' that is you, go with it. Do you wake up as you, or is it just a copy?

To others it is you, but the big question is it really death survival of the original you.

Not only has there been body swap type senarios, but also the dangers of future technologies, that could mess up your life, for example there is a si-fi book (cannot remeber its name) that looked into matter transfer (aka: Star trek transporter), and wonders if the original you is transfered, or just a copy of you, and the real you dies, or worse, where you re-materalised but on a different phase frequency, where you are ghost like, and cannot find real food to eat, and end up with canabalism of the next lot of passengers coming through the transporter.

No wonder I fear new technologies reading this sort of stuff

Watched a couple of episodes. It's... okay, I guess. Good enough to keep watching.

The consensus seems to be that they've butchered the books, though.

I watched the first one. Wasn't blown away but will stick with it. I'd describe it as Bladerunner crossed with John Wick.

Episode and a half and gave up, nothing at all grabbed me, script blah, leads, blah, very dark, not for me.

Agreed mbilko.
It didn't make me want to watch another episode. Was a bit "meh"

I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
