Amazon ditches Free Delivery for all orders under £10

About Changes to FREE Super Saver Delivery

Last year they ditched the free delivery for all items except Books, Music, Film & TV, Blu-ray, Software or PC & Video Games.

From today it's everything! Spend £10, or get charged delivery.

I guess they really want ppl to go for prime, which may end up being a sensible option, must remember to cancel my 3 months free try before end of the month.

£45 a year seems an awful lot, at a quick guess you'd have to order 2 things a month which are under £10 (so you can't get free delivery) before you'd save money that way.

It's more likely to encourage anyone spending £8 or less to buy another item worth £2, which is probably what they want anyway. Still, this will probably help Zavvi, Tesco and other retailers who sell sub £10 goods and still give free delivery.

I have to say the free delivery policy was fantastic but totally crazy...when i lived in surrey i used to order 2 litre bottles of irn bru when they were a quid a bottle, they came in 6 packs and i ordered at least 4 at a time and the weight and bulk must have cost them more than they made.

Saw they had a triple bill Blu-ray of Denzel Washington films I have unwatched on DVD, would have upgraded but the £8 price didn't include free delivery, so I just didn't order it. :/

Add some Chilli Beef Biltong to your order and you can chew down on that while you watch the movie!

It probably won't make much of a difference for me, I'll just leave things in my basket for a few weeks till I hit the £10 mark!

I agree mbilko - it wasn't sustainable.  It's easy enoughto find something else to bump the price up or to keep it in your basket for next time.  It's very rare I spend a tenner or less at Amazon anyway.
Was good while it lasted.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

It's getting worse...

From their latest  2 for £10 offer.

Quote:

From Monday, 28 September, 2015, buy any two DVDs or Blu-ray from the selection on this page for just £10 (the “Offer”). Each customer can claim an unlimited number of Offers (but only one Offer per order). The Offer ends at 23:59 BST on Sunday, 3 January, 2016.

How to claim: Add two DVD or Blu-ray titles from the selection on this page (each a “Qualifying Item”) to your Shopping Basket via the “Add to Basket” button. When you’re done shopping, click the “Proceed to Checkout” button. The Offer will be automatically applied to your order at checkout, so the combined price of the two Qualifying Items will be £10. If you proceed to checkout with more than two Qualifying Items in your basket, the Offer will apply to the cheapest two Qualifying Items only.

Please note that if you would like to claim the Offer more than once, you must submit a separate order for each set of two Qualifying Items.

So, minimum for free postage is £20. Last time they had a two for ten offer, I bunged four discs into the order to make it £20, free postage. Now you can only have one two for ten offer per order placed, £10 plus postage please.

I've pretty much stopped buying from Amazon these days. It's very useful for Flubit comparisons though!

Time to resurrect this thread.

Since April, minimum spend for non-Prime customers to get free delivery is now £25.

More and more I'm either going for cheaper shipping through Amazon Marketplace sellers, or just buying elsewhere.

I can see Amazon going the way of Play/Rakuten, and just closing or selling off their retail one day, making it all Marketplace and concentrating on services.
