Anyone recommend any? Would rather not buy a Dell for mum, but at the same time don`t want to build one myself.

RE: Decent but budget desktop PC brands?
I`ve been looking myself.
Two that seem to keep cropping up are Lenovo and Zoo Storm.
Of two Lenovo looks slightly better but others probably no better than me.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Mesh, or as Snaps says zoostorm often have good deals at ebuyer, and I`ve seen them get good scores in PC mags. Medion is another budget brand worth a look, especially if you`ve got an Aldi near you and they`re doing a deal, but you have to get in quick, but some large supermarkets stock them as well.
btw what`s wrong with Dell? Where I would now, and 2 jobs ago we use Dell, they`re OK. Often hard to beat their regular cheap deals in newspaper adds etc for a cheap PC.
used Lenovo at last place, they seem ok as well

I had a quick look at Dell`s website, they seemed expensive to me, at least the deals they had. Also aren`t they one of the worst offenders for adding trialware and junk?

My old, now deceased, machine was a Dell.
They do fairly good stuff at reasonable prices but god help you if you`re dealing with Dell by mail order. If anything goes wrong or needs changing their customer service varied from woefull to non existant.
Yes you will need to look back through the threads for Decrapifier if you get one.

what kind of price were you looking at spending?
Re Medion- they have an outlet store.
So do Dell, but as you don`t want a Dell I won`t bother linking it.
This is ebuyers latest offer of a zoostorm, its only £190 but you need to buy Windows on top of that price
This one looks a better buy, £270 with Windows 7

If it`s for yer mum, won`t she want the wotsits at the front rather than fiddling with the doo-dahs at the back?

My computer likes to sing ballads. That`s what happens when you buy a dell.
