Which broadband Service would you recommend...
I`ve finally had it with the slow "dial-up" internet connections, and so I`m going to switch over to "always-on" broadband.
Which service provider would you recommend and have been happy with As yet, I don`t need the x10 speeds (560K line) as a x3 speed would be fine.
NTL are doing x3 speed for approx 18 pounds per month. This is 3 pounds more than what I am already paying for, for my dial-up connection. Anything better out there chaps
Thanks
Sultan

I`ve got the NTL 150k connection and I`m very happy with it. Like you, it was more the always on/seperate to phone line/performance improvement features rather than the ultimate top speed that I wanted, so I went for the cheapest deal I could get (this was back when it was £15 a month). Now, I think you can get faster speeds for £18, but I`m happy to stick with what works for me (until they put the price up again...)

I`ve been on the Pipex Solo 2 Go system for about 5 months now and think it is great, you get a full 576k connection, downloads are usually around 60-70kbps.
I am paying just over £23 a month for it, when I signed up they had an offer on so that connection, setup and the modem were free, so all you pay is your first months subscritpion, not sure if this is still on or not.
Only thing I would say is, I put off broadband as didn`t use the internet that much, we only got it as the phone would get tied up and it was cheaper than a second line, but now it is on all day, we are definatly getting our moneys worth out of it.

I would second Geralds comments about Pipex - good reliable connections and lightening speeds at 512/256. However you say just want 3x - up to you if worth the extra £5 - once you get broadband you find that there are innumerable reasons to have it - quickly surfing sites / P2P / work is done in a fraction of the time.
One point - most people see broadband as being 512k upwards.

600k ntl rules
RE: Which broadband Service would you recommend...
Am another one in the Pipex camp here, never had any probs with them really! :) It defo pays though to go for the slightly faster 512k connections rather than the 3x NTL one as you do notice a significant change in the speed and as a result you will end up using it more.

I have been using Pipex for about 15 months now and I`m very happy with the service. Good speed, reliable service, more than reasonable price.
Cheers,

Yup, I`m with the Pipex support league too. I`ve been with them for about 4 months now and can`t fault the service. I`ve never had a single connection fault and even got a month`s free service for getting a friend to sign up. Highly recommended.

If you go with BT you should be shot, they are the worst provider imho. NTL aren`t much cop either, often suffering from packet loss, issues with their transparent web proxy server, and sometimes they just go belly up.
