Been here before ?
Been away working and never saw the internet - come back and two weeks later I`m looking at DVD Reviewer.
Things seem to have changed -
Mr Bruce and a poll on who is the biggest p**** - as even seems to be occupying the high ground intellectually. He`s now qualified as a doctor - I`m read about all the problems in the NHS - but this truly frightening !
Haggis - being given a degree - god, how the education system is falling this country !
Some whippersapper Zorivax - being banned - there`s always one.
What`s all this advertising - someone forgot the two bob for the meter ?
Still loads of familiar names posting - but everything has changed and I`ve arrived back to a weird world. Next thing you know someone will tell me Newcastle won the Premiership in my absence - now that would be losing my marbles.

Wireless Networks - connected to wrong one
My GF connected to a wireless network, here at home, thinking it was ours - but it wasn`t. :o My concern is that she was sending emails, buying on the net, so giving bank details and cc`s details. I know v.little about wireless - so how would this show up on whoever`s network she was on ?
Could they see what she was doing - who she was (does the network just show the serial number or the id of the computer). As I say - a complete novice on wireless - but have protected ours with a password.

RE: BA: new 12 months free contract mobile bargains
These deals with E2Save just got even better - Quidco are offering £41.50 for cashback for the next three days on an E2Save contract.
RE: NOKIA 6230i. 99p on O2.
Don`t forget that if you go for this deal - the cost is £70 after cashback - but use Quidco and get £30 and trade in an ancient brick of a phone/charger and manual for a further £20 off from CPW. This brings it down to £20 for the year.

RE: Pioneer DVR-110D or Sony DW-Q30AB2 DVD writer - which do you recommend?
Quote:
whats the difference between the 110 and the 110D?
The 110 will write to DVD RAM - the 110D will only read DVD RAM. Hope I`m not stating the obvious but RAM means that you can use it like a removable hard disk and able to copy 100000 times.Go for the 110 for the extra fiver it`ll probably cost.

RE: Graeme Souness sacked!!
Aye KK`s back in the Toon - spotted in the chippy in Gosforth, getting a taxi on the Quayside, having an Indian in the Bigg Market, the pie and chips in Westgate Road, a kebab from the van by the Gate - so must be right. 8)
Poor Sue Ness - have to feel for the lad - grass was too long, soil too sticky, injuries to players, no money to spend, fans impatient.
As for being a man of honour and wouldn`t be able to look himself the mirror if he quit - what about looking straight in the eyes of the 52000+ that you fleeced of £3 million. A man of honour would have resigned and admitted his failings.
Rant over - as you can tell I have no interest in Newcastle.

USB 1.0 to 2.0 Upgrade
Just been persuaded to buy a PCI card for USB 2.0 (480mps) - is it simply a case of plugging the card into the motherboard and installing and installing the drivers ? Been warned at work - by a techie - (shaking his head) no its not that easy....
Computer has two USB connections off m/board then a further 2 on a board further down that is connected by a connector to the m/board - all are 1.0 ports.
Any advice ?

RE: Easymobile SIM £20 airtime intro

RE: Cello DVD recorder £49.99 in Co-op
Quote:
But is it any good????
Just judging from the reviews on Ebuyer - probably worth a punt for £50 - sure the Coop will take it back if its naff. The only thing is these reviews are all only a day or so old - no one`s had the recorder more than a day or so.

RE: had me wallet nicked today!
Sorry to hear that Haggis - was it the real Santa in Fenwick`s that you saw ? Did they just help them elves to it ?
Apologies for the crap joke - what should of been a memorable day for you and the little one spoiled by idiots. Just goes to show never trust anyone dressed in red and white.
BTW - never got that Texan from Thomson House - but managed to find them in the shops on my return to the UK.

www.mobileshop.com - Are they reliable company? Or disappearing in a few months time?
One of the more reliable `cashback` sites in the industry - always paid up for deals that I`ve had - remember to use Quidco for an extra £25 back.

RE: Fuel tax protests start Wednesay!
Disagree with the protests - they`ll cost Joe Public far more than any gain. Its like King Canute - govt at most could cut the duty by 2-4p per litre that would be swallowed up by further increases in price due to lack of world supply. Other countries raise taxes in other ways so comparisons are difficult - French pay 10p in the £ more in Income Tax for example.
to give an example of the idiots who are threatening to bring the country to a standstill again here`s a direct quote from Andrew Spence (spokesman for Fuel Lobby)
Quote:
"We need to budget. One haulage business I spoke to was making a seven per cent profit on a million pound turnover a month ago, but then fuel prices have gone up 14 per cent and he is now making a seven per cent loss. That is in just one month.
So he`s telling us that the T/O was purely fuel costs - where`s the other costs of the business !! The man is a simpleton - self seeking publicity machine.

RE: Need a cheap phone, any ideas?
Numerous decent deals around - mostly these take the form of `cashback` deals. Cashback is where you pay he line rental and recover all/some in 3 or 4 monthly blocks - these are basically the retailer passing on their commission from the network. Just pick a reputable dealer and you should be ok - should means that some retailers have folded before paying cashbacks.
The better retailers are Mobileshop and CPW.

RE: Owen going to Newcastle :-(((((((
Quote:
Newcastle - having a one team city ensures large gates, they are not a big club - but do underacheive and have not won a trophy I can recall in my lifetime.
The one team city argument doesn`t add up - Newcastle as a population is a little under 300,000 and the Tyne/Wear conurbation is only 1.2 million - compare that to Manchester 4.2m Liverpool 2 million Bristol and Sheffield are far bigger also. Agreed Newcastle have underachieved and not won a trophy in most fans supporting lifetime but that proves the point I`m trying to make - how many other clubs could call upon such support ?
As for SJ`s point - most Newcastle fans don`t think they have a great team and that`s why the support has always far outweighed any reasoning as to why the support has stayed so loyal. None of this winning the Champions League/European Cup four times malarkey - no just an allegiance that`s in your blood.

RE: Owen going to Newcastle :-(((((((
Seems like half the media were sitting in poring over the contract details - a load of tosh from the Liverpool Echo (playing to their readership). I think the £17m could of being better spent but seems like a lot of folks are having an open season on Newcastle fans.
I don`t know of another club in Europe that attracts 50,000 plus supporters each home game and has not won a domestic trophy for 50 years - I would call that support. Could you honestly say Liverpool, Man U etc would receive that backing ? To support a club through thin and thinner seems a positive to me - as for changing to Man U or Arsenal I think the poster misses the point - you support your football club for allegiance, traditions and identity not to glory seek.
The transfer of Solano excites me more than Owen arriving - he made the team tick.

RE: Bush Digital Tv for 49p
Yes - good news Argos are definitely honouring this - just had mine delivered. Two guys arrived - said fitting was 5% of sales price - so they haggled and got it rounded up to 3p, then they left on their pink elephants.

RE: Just been taken for over a grand
Did you get any reg numbers for vehicles - always a safety valve - may not be registered in their name - but local police and tax authorities/benefit guys may have an interest.Their usual method is one or two jobs then scarper to another part of town.
Pointless getting Trading Standards involved they`ll just tell you what you already know - don`t hand cash over before completion.

RE: Texan...it`s back!
Apparently they taste nothing like the original - the original was almost addictive. Couldn`t understand why they stopped making them (it was Rowntree Mack wasn`t it ?) - I must have practically kept one shift working on my own.
Anyway if Haggis has ordered 20 - I`ll nick one of yours comrade.

RE: Best Beach
Thought it was longer than 72 miles from the sea - it was claimed Stoke Mandeville Post Office was the most distant.
As for beaches - Bamburgh on the North East coast or any one of numerous beaches on Holy Island (featured on Cold Feet). Or the West Coast of Scotland around Arisaig and Morar - where you can trek out for miles and still be knee deep in water.

Just being lazy - haven`t used Cdex for a while - how do you get it to recognise and name the tracks on an album to rip ?

RE: Free Sky +
Have to agree Sky+ is excellent. However - you can get it virtually free at present - ring their cancellations dept., they`ll offer a `refurbished` (most probably new) box for £49 - sell the old box for £40 on Ebay - jobs a good `un.

RE: Wanadoo up to 2meg
Try Waitrose - 2mb line (with 5gb limit :( ) but with 3 mths for free if you`re migrating - works out at £14.25 a month. Plus it operates with the proceeds going to charity.
