What`s happened to orange & red on my PC?
I`m seeking help with what I believe to be a very unusual problem I`ve been saddled with for a few weeks now - per the subject line, my
computer has stopped displaying any orange-y & red colours!!
Now, I`ve tried everything I can think of in terms of adjusting the colour
mgmt. via the ctrl. panel, etc., but so far without success - could it be
something to do with the graphics card (SiS 630/730)?
Any other inputs would be most welcome, as this is starting to drive me
nuts (e.g. unable to print off CD/DVD covers).
Ta muchly,

This could be a "doh!" of Homerian size (it happened to me). Check the display plug is firmly seated on the graphic card socket. Give it a wiggle if need be. Sometimes they slip out slightly and you lose the red register of the picture.
Apologies if you`ve done that already, but it`s often the simple things...

Does the actual monitor display affect what prints out?

not sure if this is similer to your problem or not. however the problem i had was that reds came out a very faint orange, and generally every other colour wasnt the colour it was supposed to be... Anyway i solved the problem by simply pressing the `Degauss` button on my monitor. It may be a button or if your monitor has an on screen menu it may be in there. This i belive gets rid of some or all of the magnetic c**p which has built up on the monitor.
Hope this is of some help.
RE: What`s happened to orange & red on my PC?
Thanks for the suggestions so far, but I think I`ve tried all of the obvious things to resolve this (incl. checking the cabling and connections) - also,
should have said that what displays on the screen w/out orange/red
colours, is what prints out (hence, CD covers are total cr*p!!).
So, from what`s been said so far, do I take it there`s nothing actually wrong with the graphics card? Or the drivers?
FWIW, the PC was bought (new) locally in Feb. last year, and is only used for a few hours each week.
Keep `em suggestions coming!!!! ;-)

Agh! "should have said" - now there`s the operative term. This is nothing whatsoever to do with your monitor or your graphics card, this is something to do with - er something else.
Now, let`s think. Have you been into the advanced tag of your display settings? Get down to the desktop, left click on a clear bit of space and get up the little dialogue with "properties" at the bottom and click on that. Then go along the top line of the next dialogue box to "settings". On that dialogue box, go down to "advanced" and have a look at the various settings you can set up there. See if there`s anything out of the ordinary on any of them, especially if they`re called "color" or "color management". It could be something like that. Different monitors have different options on the advanced tag, so you might have to hunt around in there. All your display driver options can be accessed from there so you can check you`ve got the right drivers for the components of your setup.

Thanks for your further input, JMO, but I`ve already tried the "color management" tab, and was unable to find anything there which enabled me to fix the g*d*mn problem - in fact, even when displaying the True Color (32 Bit) bar, the orangey/red colours are still missing!! Aaargh!!
I`m glad to hear that you think it`s nothing to do with the monitor or graphics card (I was thinking that way myself), so any more suggestions as to where/how I can make any additional tweaks?
This is really p*ss*ng me off BIGTIME!!
All the best,

Maybe you have suddenly become colour blind? :)
