Com`on Mike. Its the third thread now - I think the final decision will have to be down to yourself - check a magazine for the technical details. If your on the cheap then you wont need optical digital out, s-vid, dolby 5.1 channels. I think a decent SCART and digital coax is all one needs for future upgrades to amp/decoder to any number of speakers. DTS? - I got the Tosh for this for future proof when/if I get an appropriate amp. I dont know what the other two have.

The CHOICE is YOURS!! Take the plunge.

You must have had a wet dream about the 756 (FANTASY!!), cause if it`s anything like the Philips710, 750 or 960 - then your wasting your money! - Style over Quality is what Philips are - in my feable opinion.

Ok from what i have seen.

Sony cant play RCE disks.
Toshiba`s are good , but again some have problems with multi region/RCE

I had the same questions and eventually went for a pioneer 636D, And it is excellent.

So i would advise going for the pioneer.......

Have you heard ANYONE slagging them off?

BTW anyone want to buy a Pro-Logic Kenwood 7050 Audio/video receiver?

Get the Toshiba, although it doesn`t play multi regionaly (is that a word?) it`s a great player and it can be chipped to play other region disks. Dont waste your money on the Philips, saw it in store, the Grundig looked better especialy on scenes with a lot of blue in them.

Take care :)

So TeraHawk you may have a point but from what I have seen and heard a Philips 756 can match and beat the players that have been detailed in the 1st post. Maybe you should try before condemning!!!!!

I tested a few before buying and the Philips won hands down.......and to be honest at the end of the day it`s down to subjectivity!!!!!

Sony does play RCE (BOBSKI) my Hollow man etc are fine....

Mine from MRM works fine on auto as well...

Stop bashing SONY and go and give your head a bang against a wall... That might knock the truth into you head..

SONY ROCKS and hasn`t failed to play anything yet, including VCD on recodable media.

SO for the last time

SONY (336) rocks..... for you all...

I can back you up on that Wibble, Sony does play RCE I’ve not had any problems with this so far. Speak to www.multiregionmagic.co.uk, as they can guarantee there dvd`s are RCE compatible amongst other things.

Once u`v decided which player u want its worth asking when ordering if they are running any special promotions. (If you don`t ask you don`t get)
