RE: Philps Widescreen T.V.`s

Not exactly the same problem......my Philips has a hairline vertical line going down the whole screen on the left about 4 inches in........its one of those you can only see it if you know its there....and its startin to bug the sh*t outa me..........do i put it in under warantee?.....hmmmmm

RE: Back by popular demand - what players have you all got then ?

Pioneer 636D

and a 6x Tosh 1212 in the pc......

both multiregion.

RE: Dolby Digital!!! what amps etc have you got and how do you find them!

I managed to pick up an Onkyo 777 for £400

Dolby 5.1
DTS
135W p/c
etc etc.....way too many functions to add

And it is the dogs doodahs.

I could have shelled out an extra £500 for its successor (which would have given 6.1)....but i think £400 is enuff.

RE: £350-£400 to spend....help

Well i had the same dilemma

I eventually went for the Pioneer 636D

And im very happy with it. It has played everything ive thrown @ it without question (R1,R2,RCE, CDR`s, CDRW`s)

i linked it to a DTS/THX AMP via the optical out and the sound is amazing.

( i really wanted a player that would also replace my aging CD player, this it has also done)

it also has the added bonus of being VCR friendly, not that i have used it.......!.

The ONLY thing that i would have liked is for it to be able to playback MP3`s.

RE: optical or co-axial????

Ok for my part i use an optical ......1 lead does the lot !.....no fuss....sounds fantastic......and i think its cheaper in the long run.

RE: NTL Set top box

NTL use Pace set top boxes.
Just go to the pace web site and they have all info on them.

RE: Cheapskate Speaker + Amp

What features do you want from the amp?

Surround?
Pro-logic surround?
Digital sound processing (DSP)?
5.1 Surround?
DTS?

RE: What player do you have SURVEY Results.....just for Clayts ;-)........

My profound appologies Dukey :)

I was holding out for the 707, but after calling up MRM, upgrade heaven etc.....they said that it wouldnt be fully mod`d for rce etc.......and with the dodgy batch of 505`s...... i diddnt wanna risk it......so i went with the 636.

Not as pretty as some but is is a good player.

But i still like yr style :)........you can have second place :)

RE: Pioneer 535 multi region or not

Get the player from upgrade heaven.com, multiregionmagic, or any number of online stores. you will get the player already mod`d for multi region and vcr friendly (not that i know anythin bout that)

I delt with upgradeheaven and have had no problems and it does "exactly what it said on the tin".......i have also heard good reports of Multiregionmagic.

If you visit a site "Techtronics"....make sure you add VAT.

BTW the pioneer 535 is a good buy.

RE: AV Amplifiers - info please - using the video connections.

Just for the record .....i used to have a kenwood prologic...(actually i still do ....but wanna flog it)...i managed to get an Onkyo 777 THX amp for a lil (ok A LOT) off as it was replaced by the 777.
Playing DVDs through it to the tv doesnt seem to make any difference than straight to tv.

Sounds are awsome!.......and yes you "should" be fine playing dvd audio discs, i do, but my player (pioneer 636) has a setting for 48-96 as does the amp?.......(i dont know for sure as i dont use that equipment)

Ive heard good things about the Yammy amp, if you cant stretch yr budget.....go for it.

RE: AV Amplifiers - info please.

Have you looked at the "ONKYO" Receivers?

TXDS575x (£400) -
DTS(R), Dolby(R) Digital (AC-3), Dolby(R) Pro LogicTM,
DVD Audio capability
5.1 Multi-channel Inputs

TXDS 676 (£649).......Ok gettin a bit steep now

TXDS 787 (£900)
Like the rest but with Dolby 6.1 (yes another bloody speaker)

And if you are totally loaded the 9xxx but its £2500 (EEEEEK)
but it is dolby 7.1

HOW many speakers do you need for gods sake?

RE: What player do you have SURVEY Results.....just for Clayts ;-)........

WHAT CAN I SAY????

PIONEER is the NEW King in town...!! (The numbers dont lie)

So nudge over guys :)

RE: Please advise! About to buy my first player...!

Pioneer is the new ruler !

Sorry dukey

RE: WHATS BEST SONY, PIONEER OR TOSHIBA

Ok from what i have seen.

Sony cant play RCE disks.
Toshiba`s are good , but again some have problems with multi region/RCE

I had the same questions and eventually went for a pioneer 636D, And it is excellent.

So i would advise going for the pioneer.......

Have you heard ANYONE slagging them off?

BTW anyone want to buy a Pro-Logic Kenwood 7050 Audio/video receiver?

http://www.computer-fairs.co.uk if you live in the south.

RE: What player do you have, so I can work out the which players have sold the most.

Pioneer 636 is THE DOGS DOODAHS!

RE: What player do you have, so I can work out the which players have sold the most.

Eventually plunged for a Pioneer 636D...

NOw ive been offered a Onkyo 777 Reciever.for £400

Anyone know anything about these?

RE: USA DVDs... NTSC TV needed??? help!

Well i did say "Should" :)

I shoulda mentioned checking your user guide for your tv`s they should give you the info you need regarding your SCART connections RGB etc.

RE: USA DVDs... NTSC TV needed??? help!

as long as your tv has scart connections on the rear (and or an S-video connection) you should not have a problem at all. Most TV`s made in the last 5 years have SCART.

RE: What player do you have, so I can work out the which players have sold the most.

Ummm well i had to get to the end of the thread......so i thought id say somethin...!!

AND NO I HAVNT GOT A PLAYER YET....still waitin on the 70 bloody 5

:)

Techtronics, MultiregionMagic or Upgrade Heaven?

Anyone have much experience, good or bad, with any any of these of these.

Some of the prices vary from player o player i just wondered if the actual players they sell differ at all?

BTW have a great Xmas all.

Bobski

and when will the bloody 705 be available on multi-region? :)

RE: My 505 goes back tommorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Duke,

So whats the story with the 505??

I mean you had me sold on a hitachi although i was gonna wait for the 705, then u say its going back??......whats the deal??

Bobski

DONT KNOW WHAT ROCKS YET......but workin on it!!!

RE: SONY BARGAIN

the sony`s still habve RCE problems though even after multimod dont they?

RE: Nvidia TNT2 M64 16 MB TV. Can I use my TV as a monitor?

As rob above (ie as long as you have video out from your graphics card)

But i think you will find that using your tv as a vdu for any normal pc use will not be as good, as tv`s are not made to be of the same resolution quality as pc monitors.

But i do watch dvds via a tv (voodoo card) out to a widescreen and its better than using a 17`` monitor.

Dont know if this helps?

RE: hitachi 505 vital info

Going back for a sec guys,

The 705......

How Much?

Where/Who from?

how good?

all i bloody want is a good picture good sound and able to playback normal audio cd`s....IS that too much to ask...!!!!.......oh and of course multi regional RCE proof.....(video friendly would be nice)

RE: The Ironduke Predicts!

Hey Duke
ok so im still looking.......gone off the idea off the cheaper players and now lookin for £300 players....

but...

Ive been reading somewhere that the latest batch of 505`s have dud chips in them!

Have you or anyone else heard this , and are there any online news about it?

OK you can now continue your battle.....was next pistols @ dawn? :)

RCE Disks

Hi all,

ok im trying to build a list of known (obviously) RCE protected R1 disks.

Can anyone help?

RE: How do MultiregionMagic compare to Techtronics in the chipping stakes ?

Sorry in english this time.... :)

Are there any web addresses for techtronics or multiregion magic?
