RE: Philips 756 vs LG 3350

THE PHILIPS IS THE ONE TO GO FOR IT WILL DEFINATELY BEAT THE LG INTO SUBMISSION.

IT HAS EXCELLENT PICTURE AND AUDIO CAPABILITIES.......

AND AS FOR AIWA OFFICIALLY ROCKING - I SAY THINK AGAIN AND QUICK!!!!

RE: Q about Philips players - esp. 756

The Philips 756 is NOT restricted to the 25 changes - It uses the one off OneForAll 6 remote hack for the Philips 750 found on this site.

In terms of build, sound, picture etc.... (including transport noise) the Philips is an OUTSTANDING piece of machinery.

GO BUY - YOU WON`T REGRET IT!!!!!

RE: AV Amplifiers - info please - using the video connections.

I would stick with Yamaha mate. Yamaha have been building excellent Processors for quite some time and moreover they always win all the awards.

I have a DSP-E800 which is an add on processor if you want to keep your existing hi-fi. The sound is immense and totally out of this world. I picked mine up for £249 from Spatial Audio on Tottenham Court Road, London.

The DSP-A5 is another excellent piece of kit....but remember you`ll have to get the 5 speaker set up to match - Probably the Mission 7`s.

At the end of the day the choice is yours...but be safe in the knowledge that Yamaha along with Denon are the best.

Hack for Philips 9600

Does anyone know if there is a hack for the Philips 9600 DVD player or can I use the Philips 750 for this player.

Much thanks

RE: WHATS BEST SONY, PIONEER OR TOSHIBA

So TeraHawk you may have a point but from what I have seen and heard a Philips 756 can match and beat the players that have been detailed in the 1st post. Maybe you should try before condemning!!!!!

I tested a few before buying and the Philips won hands down.......and to be honest at the end of the day it`s down to subjectivity!!!!!

RE: Anywhere in Central London For R1 Dvd`s??

Stand corrected SN you can buy R1 movies from Computer Exchange. There are two branches, the first being on TCR and the second just around the corner (cannot remember name of the road). If you pop into the branch on Tottenham Ct Road, they`ll tell you where the 2nd branch is. Note that they are 2nd hand but they more often than not have loads of fab titles....

RE: Sony STRDB940 v Yamaha DSPA5

Yamaha all the way!!!!!

RE: WHATS BEST SONY, PIONEER OR TOSHIBA

NONE OF THEM. YOU SHOULD AUDITION A PHILIPS MODEL SUCH AS THE EXCELLENT 756. THE PICTURE THE SOUND THE EVERYTHING.............HACK FANTASTIC!!!!!

GO BUY ONE NOW!!!!!

RE: I have £250ish what player should i get and where should i get it from?

Forget about Hitachi`s, Lecsons and Scans..... they are nothing compared to the excellent Philips 756 DVD player. Dixons and Currys stock it, but you can problably get it cheaper at Empire Direct`s website...

GO GET IT NOW!!!!!!

RE: can i hack Philips 756 with normal remote?

Leemus....unfortunately it seems you cannot....You need a OneForAll6 Remote control to do this.

If you follow the hack for the Philips 750 this should work a real treat.

I have done it on on my own 756 and it works hiccup free...so far.

RE: Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

Hey......I even went out and bought a gold plated scart lead and there was a marked improvement in the picture quality.

All in all I think that this is a serious player.......in my mind it deserves an award.

RE: Philips 756 - any good?

AWESOME.......

Is the best way to describe this superb player from Philips. The picture and sound quality are both excellent. The player can be easily hacked using the One4All 6 remote and it plays all types of discs with the greatest of ease....

Don`t take my word 4 it....go try 4 yourself......I guarantee u will not regret it

RE: £200-WHAT DVD PLAYER

TRY THE PHILIPS 756 - It`s a cracking well built player that in my mind leaves all the aforementioned quaking in their black and silver cases!!!!!

You can enquire about it at empiredirect or hed and you can do the region thing with a One4All 6 remote.........

RE: HELP: Dolby Digital Amps

Cheers Clay

Can I ask another question and please excuse for me for being dumb......for example could I connect say the Kenwood 5030 or 7030 (or any other amp for that matter) to my existing pre/power amp combo via the tape loops and is this an easy thing to do.......

The Yamaha is hard to come by at present......

Many thanks

HELP: Dolby Digital Amps

I have a very good pre and power amplifier set up and I now want to add a Dolby Digital set up into the fold also. Can anyone recommend a cheap and fairly decent amp that can be be attached to my existing set up. I`ve heard good reports about the Yamaha DSP-E492 but this is now obsolete.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Region 3 Hacks for Philips 756 Player

i`ll borrow a couple from a friend and report back to you on the quality....

RE: Region 3 Hacks for Philips 756 Player

Hey Ponch....

I think some VCD`s are badly produced and may not be digital at all. I bought House on the Haunted Hill at a computer fair and although it plays with colour intact etc etc.... it is no match for true DVD quality. Also a friend of mine has a dedicated VCD player with masses of titles but the quality is not at all good with the loss of colour on some films and terrible lip synch problems.

To be honest I would stick to DVD`s and not bother with VCD`s.....

What does anyone else think about this issue?????

RE: Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

Hey Robbie

None what so ever. I`ve had n problems with this player at all unlike my Samsung 709 which at times played a game of catch up between scene changes...

RE: Region 3 Hacks for Philips 756 Player

Many thanks to you all........I`ve decided to buy the R3 Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon....If it works I`ll buy y`all a beer!!!!!

RE: Region 3 Hacks for Philips 756 Player

HaGGiS

Thanks.........I checked your site and the Oneforall page is working. I already have this hack which works a treat. Does that mean that I`m already R3 compatitble or do I have to do something with my Philips Remote which looks completely different to the one on your Philips remote page. If I do have to do something with the Philips remote....how do I do it.....

Apologies for sounding completely THICK!!!!!!

RE: Region 3 Hacks for Philips 756 Player

Thanks Alan....the OneForAll page is not available on this site however.....the browser reports error 404 - page not found.

Region 3 Hacks for Philips 756 Player

Does the Philip 750 hack only work for R1 discs. I want to purchase an R3 disc but I am not sure if this will work in my machine.

Would be grateful if someone could shed some light on this.

Many thanks

RE: Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

Thanks Poncho....

I`ve checked out both sites and will bear them in mind for my next purchase.

Also check out my new thread on making the 756 R3 decodable.

RE: Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

Hey....

I had a look at the Empire website......they are excellent. You are right in saying that Currys would not do a price match. Ah well I`ve still got a startling player in any case......

Now looking at an AV Amp to go with it........

RE: Philips 756

Hey Mark

See my posted message on the excellent 756 player. The 750 hack works a treat and and by all counts does not lock up the player.

RE: Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

Hey P

I paid £250 sobs for this piece of kit........if yours is cheaper I wanna know so that I can get that price busted in two.....

Let me know......by the way u gotta give me the name of the shop...etc in order for Currys to do a price match...

RE: Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

Hey Poncho

What can I say about the 756......... It`s a fascinating player. I was at a loss as to what DVD player I actually wanted to buy. A friend purchased the Philips and became completely besotted by this beautiful piece of machinery.

The sound and image quality get 10 out of 10 and compared to my Samsung 709 I think that the picture is a lot crisper and true to life.

GO OUT AND BUY THIS PLAYER. DIXON`S OR CURRYS.... COMET DO NOT STOCK THIS MODEL FOR SOME STRANGE REASON.

RE: Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

¦°e\/[\] you are a true geezer....... Many thanks this hack worked a treat. Is this a permanent hack though???

Hack for Philips 756 DVD Player Needed Urgently

Just bought a Philips 756 DVD Player after my Samsung 709 broke down. Is there a permanent or temporary region hack that is available for that player.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
