She will mean less to the younger ones on here but she's been part of my viewing life since I saw her in Summer Holiday in the days when you could just sit there and watch a film twice.
Alf Garnett's daughter
Aunt Sally to Jon Pertwee's Worzel Gummidge
and you'd all probably know her as Mrs Hudson in Sherlock.

Nice to see from the Beeb's obituary that she was as nice a person in real life as she appeared whenever interviewed.

yeh, Worzel Gummidge and Give us a clue, are what I remember her from.

As you say, nice to read what seem like genuine nice anecdotes from ppl who met her and worked with her.

worked with her a couple of times in the theatre in Manchester - such a nice lady and had time for everyone no matter what job you did.

Can't remember when Worzel Gummidge arrived on TV, but pretty sure I watched it on British Forces TV in West Germany along with her accompanying role as resident team captain in Give Us A Clue...
