RE: Coping with the lockdown

Thus far I've been surviving on a diet of youtube and tending to my wife. Who, in a case of impeccable timing, has chosen to become extremely ill with generic flu-related ilnesses, which started with painful bones for a week (alleviated by some paracetomol & caffeine painkillers I'd picked up by chance even though the rest of the shelves were empty), and as soon as that lifted, it was vomit city all of wednesday night, which necessitated a call to 111 at 2am.

She's getting better, but very slowly. I wasn't one of the f***ing idiots who cleared the shelves as soon as the media hit their scaremongering, so we've paced ourselves and never been short. I work somewhere that sells PPE and have a small stock when I need to mix with the populace, which isn;t often.

Work shut down Monday, but the company I work for has been very generous. 100% pay for the first month, 90 for the second, than 80% until we get back to work. That was a major concern for me and was keeping me up at night, so I would have kept my chestnut locks were it not for Annie scaring the crap out of me every time she takes a bit longer to breathe in at night.

Still, once she's properly up and about It'll be back to smal jobs about the house, and maybe, just maybe, I'll put Hogwarts back together.

Decided we are going to stay in the whole weekend and not bother with usual short exercise walk, as per PM Boris's plea. One look of his decrepit face on telly all red and swollen, plus hair all over the place (strike that last one, that his normal hair style LOL), showed what the virus does to people and that's a mild case he's got.

Deaths now well up, not good.

One of the most dispiriting things I've seen... Have I Got News For You under lockdown. No studio audience obviously, host and guests teleconferencing in, and with Ian and Paul desperately trying to be funny, where there's only one item in the week's news to make jokes about. The only funny to be had was Ian and Paul taking the mick out of each other.

Of all the deaths so far, the one that really made my wife and I cry, was the two nurses on the frontline who died doing their job, and what a loss to their family. Plus there will be more NHS staff that will also succumb to this, before its all over.

This shows how the personal protection given to NHS and first responders is just not up to the job if the virus is getting through. If it was an ideal world and time was on our hands, which it is not, they should have been in the equivalent of a hazmat suit.

Yep, hard times indeed.

Well been in home for lockdown for13
Days now , got to see my doctor on FaceTime . I was more nervous talking
to him but I had all my questions written
down so I asked him its ok to wear mask in supermarkets n rubber gloves he said yes but don’t stayed in the store too long
Plus when you arrive home remove all the clothes off n go n shower, , because most people don’t even know they have the virus plus in a popular arena its in the mist. So tomorrow morning when hopefully its not crowded will pick up my groceries.Hope I find most on the list.
Seen some interesting films on cable .And reorganized my kitchen pantry,it needed it. Team up with hubby done so fast it was fun. Oh Bandicoot sending get well wishes for your wife , take care

Well finished my shower drain blockage saga, by replacing all the piping, and going to bung up the holes in the artex ceiling with some gyprock I found in a skip (yes, scavenging now for DIY parts )  Next DIY job, painting the outside back wall white, has been scuppered due to visiting B&M's for food, had their DIY section open but sandtex white was not available, but every other colour was, so everyone had the same idea as me to do some white painting, and i was too late to get white LOL.

Your right Snaps, there has been a lot of NHS staff casualties to the virus, very sad and bound to be more. and i thought working in nuclear power stations were dangerous, this is more so, as its so fast acting.

Well day number ....(god knows of lockdown) and starting to go slap happy, and avoiding wife in case of domestic abuse (to me), seems its 30% up since lockdown.

Watching what i say, complimenting her on lovely dinners made, instead of saying "put some makeup on dear, I know its just us two in here, but you could make an effort LOL"

Seems the papers are saying with all this staying indoors, will create a baby boom in nine months, no chance in this household
