[VIDEO] RE:The Trump Presidency
I think the only good things that came out of it was some iconic aliens, an oft-adapted catchphrase, and this:

Well, nothing bad happened!
Give it time, better yet let’s see what come up n make us more embarrassed 😳.
Trump loves coal, Trump hates renewable energy sources that takes money away from coal & oil, and his carbon-based buddies hate that

No idea what that link is supposed to go to but all I got was a VPN site.
I'm still in two minds about renewable energy. I get that we need to move onto it but I'm not yet convinced it could replace all the fossil and nuclear options, especially as we seem to be consuming more and more energy.
I do get that there are vested interests that have money tied up in fossil fuels and therefore may have influence on any research/moves to alternatives, and that needs to change.
But ultimately, it's the same as addressing climate change, it needs a combined international effort or it just won't work and I don't see that consensus, especially from those nation blocs that are the highest energy users and biggest polluters.

We need to find more efficient ways of storing energy during the day when solar power is plentiful. It’s definitely the future! :) I think i’ll have an electric car in 5 years and panels on my house in 8 years.
A few countries have managed to get 100% of their power from renewable energy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_electricity_production_from_renewable_sources
Some of us are not doing so well though, and yes, storage is a problem but there are solutions if governments were willing to encourage it.
We are surrounded by the sea, there is a lot of wave energy there unused. We are tapping wind energy already which is good, although nobody is willing to have a wind farm anywhere they can see it.
The amount China is generating from renewable sources is breathtaking, and still only 24% of their usage.

Ideally I'd like an electric car as my next car (second hand market is starting to pick up already) my current diesel is a pain in the arse, electric cars are far simpler on servicing (no dpf, no oil, no water, no sodding timing belts) never mind the pollution/running cost advantage. Initial costs will come down rapidly once the manufacturers finally get production rolling properly and battery costs are plummeting.
Electric cars become battery storage for the grid once the smart grid kicks in: imagine a million electric cars plugged in storing and levelling out grid supply - barely noticeable amounts to each individual car and that's before home battery storage becomes commonplace e.g. Tesla Powerwall.
The future is renewable and the UK should be trying to lead on this (we do have the two biggest off-shore windfarms in the world).
