Page 1 of tattoo date question...

a strange one... i want to have a tatto of my daughters name and date of birth, but want to do it in Roman Script... her dat of birth is 11th June 2007
so is this xi.vi.mmvii
also does is make diffrence with the gregorian calendar or julian calendar...
i am sure someone here will be able to put me right... dont like the idea of just trusting the tattoo artist... like people do with chinese symbols... i would probably end up with an order for crispy duck, egg fried rice, and pancake roll, if i asked for them to write my name in chinese?
`i am going to live forever or die trying`
Looks reet to me... but I wouldn`t trust me either.
If you wrote it in Chinese it would be:
二零零几年六月十一日
...which would be a bit of an armful
(you need chinese characters enabled to see that, btw)
edit: oops that should be:
二零零七年六月十一日

RE: tattoo date question...
ah... so your first effort had an extra egg foo yung in there to make me look a fool? :D
`i am going to live forever or die trying`
RE: tattoo date question...
Mark...if you can`t read the Chinese script, what`s the point in getting it tattooed (sp?) like that ? :D

RE: tattoo date question...
you`re right hence thats why i want to go Roman Script... as per point one! ;)

RE: tattoo date question...
xi.vi.mmvii is correct, but it would of course be in capitals. ;)
I`ve never really got my head round the Julian calendar though. If they only had 10 months, how long was each month? It literally means that any dates recorded in history by the Julian calendar are completely different now. I get confused just thinking about it. :/

so you dont like the idea of trusting the person that is going to permenently draw a picture on your body that you cant change? dont see the logic you are working on there :p
Good conversion site here:-http://www.guernsey.net/~sgibbs/roman.html
Do you put the full stops in though?

i trust them to do the job professionally and safely, but i do know of someone who didnt get exactly what they were looking for... something was lost in the translation! All be it not from where i am intending to go to.
`i am going to live forever or die trying`
I`d be cheeky and Google a University with a Prof specialising in Roman script and ring him up. Just BS a bit about needing it for a logo for some worthy company and you`d hate to get it wrong. He`d probably be flattered that you cared enough to get it right.
