WHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ! (:¦
No way!
A tragic loss. He made the movies for me. Aliens, Predators, Terminators..Heartbeeps.... and on and on.. I can`t really believe it... You`d think this guy would last forever... He really was a celebrity in his own right. If it had Stans name on it, you KNEW it would be great.
I really am shocked and saddened by this...

Very very sad. Didn`t he also get an oscar for the American Werewolf in London transformation scene?

RE: Stan Winston (SFX guru) has died
As Cassius said - if you saw his name you knew it would be good.
A sad loss for filmmaking, especially as recently I have read more and more comment in the press about the importance of `old-fashioned` effects and how CGI shouldn`t take over completely - including comments from directors about wanting to maintain some sense of realism. His work truly embodied that idea.

Stan Winston was one of the pantheon of special effects greats - up there with Willis O`Brien, Ray Harryhausen, Derek Meddings, John Stears, Douglas Trumbull (I could nerd on for hours...)
RIP.
