Toys these days...

Pete-MK (Elite Donator) posted this on Friday, 28th July 2006, 21:34

Just flicking through the back pages of the Argos, and the toys kids are getting these days makes my childhood seem like a stationary, dull nightmare.

Mousetrap has been redesigned. looks like there`s a toilet in there.

Monopoly no longer has paper money. now you have a `bank card` with a digital readout of how much cash you have (there`s also a `make-your-own-Opoly, where everything`s blank)

Digital camcorders (Bratz branded) for £60

And a bouncy castle (with air blower thing) for £20???

We were born in the wrong decade, seriously...

Dammit! How the hell are you supposed to steal other people`s dosh when they go to the lav?

On my train journey every day I see trampolines in nearly every back yard!

Hmmm...for every £20 bouncy castle sold over here there will be a Chinese woman or kid paid a bowl of rice to make it. :(

When we are born we are naked, wet, hungry, and we get smacked on our arse. From there on in, life gets worse

Nah mate we was born in the right decade! I remember going out and using my imagination and making go-carts and the such. We made our own board games....nothing to worry the major manufacturers but the satisfaction of getting glue , cardboard & pen together and coming up with something that WE made more than compensated for anything that was thrown at us. I think thats the problem with childrens toys these days as they seem to be told what to buy/pester the parent for and have no character to them. I also remember climbing 6ft trees and thinking I conquered it! I look around these days and see no kids playing out in the streets or forming gangsand thinking that they are the kings of that street.

They`re all inside playing Pro Evolution 6 and Halo!! Its tragic.....! :(

Do you have a problem with cheap electronics too? DVD players and the like?

Kids today no longer have to have any imagination. The toys make sounds on their own and move on their own.. hell, the toys don`t need the Kids!

I can`t believe some idiot has thought that monopoly doesn`t need hard cash anymore...

Thank GOD I was a child of the 1980s.....

It`s a fair reflection of the money habits of people today though. I certainly pay for everything on plastic these days - even beer down my local!
