Moved from Bargains forum - would you buy a stolen plasma TV and if so, justify yourself...

oh my god, it`s huge (Competent) posted this on Friday, 23rd April 2004, 06:54

I`ve received this email from a company we work with - thought you lot may like to know about it in case you get offered one.

Quote:
4 Orion Vision PM 4230 42-inch plasma screens have be stolen from Wedgwood AV Ltd.

Serial numbers 000041W000033, 000041W000020, 000041W0000167, 000041W000016

We are emailing you as you have requested information from us in the past on presentation or home cinema equipment. We are offering a £1000 reward for information leading to the recovery of these screens. Please contact myself if you have any information regarding these missing screens.

It is company policy not to send out unsolicited emails but we hope you will forgive the intrusion in case anyone tries to sell you any of these screens. Please note the serial numbers may have been removed or tampered with.

Regards

Isn`t this group for bargains, and not for e-mail crap?

You might think you`ve got a bargain if somebody offers you one. Then you get done for receiving stolen goods.

Gee, hmm, £1000 for giving up a criminal who will probably come around and bounce you off the walls, say no, or buy a 42" plasma tv for probably £600 decisions, decisions :/

Then when he does get caught, he gives you up to Mr. Plod and you get done for receiving/handling stolen goods..

`Oh no, your Honour, I didn`t know it was stolen - he just sold it to me in a pub.....?`:-)

Bit of a `no brainer` if you ask me!

Only £1000 reward? You`d think they would offer a free plasma screen! ;)

Be serious, they never catch thieves anymore unless they are caught leaving the scene and even then it`s usually a picture off a speed camera :D because they are too bloody lazy to move from their comfy top of the line police cars with air conditioning :p

Hmmm, all this weighing up of relative personal benefits...whatever happened to old fashioned morals? :D

Morals are great if you have the money, to put it in relative terms a £3000 tv to someone earning -£10,000 is like a £10,000 ring to someone earning £20,000, If you sacrifice everything else for a year you might be able to afford it.
Morals never fed a household or gave your kids their first holiday but a tv they could sell would :p ...but they`d feel like they were doing their part I suppose lol when they pay their taxes and to those whom they pay, don`t do theirs, the taxpayer has to do it for them :D

Who cares anyway, the company had insurance :D and I am sure the company was better off than the thieves.
