Films that you heard of in school but never saw until leaving....

Butterfield8 (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 20th January 2004, 14:25

I was thinking the other day about how many films were a legend in your school that you thought you`d never see and my thoughts on the ones I have now seen......especially those that were a bit of a letdown. A couple I can think of are:

American Werewolf in London - this was my ultimate "wishlist" film for years and the one that I really still can`t fault...recently bought the 2 disk "special edition" in the Virgin sale - top notch.

Evil Dead - another one I love although I must admit that I thought it was sh*te when I was younger (about 17). I bought the nice presentation box version a little while ago and I can`t stop watching it after the pub :D

...and now the rotters:

Emmanuelle - just cack!

Porkys - good-ish film but nothing on the "pornfest" I was led to believe it was going to be!

...and I can`t think of any more at the moment (I`ll probably think of a load as soon as I hit Submit!) so let`s hear your good`uns and bad`uns...oh, and let`s not slip into a row over who`s right about what films just yet eh? :D :p :D

For me it was films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre (saw for the first time a year ago and my god its awful!) and Exorcist (finally saw it in the cinema about 4 years ago and was very impressed) which I wanted to see but never did.

Animal Farm

Not the George Orwell version. Actually, I`ve still not seen it and don`t intend to.

I knew there would be another one that I forgot about! Animal farm - I`ve still only seen a couple of clips - this is one that probably deserves it`s "legend" title!

I saw animal farm while at school and it was disgusting - although at the time I can remember sitting eating pizza with my mates while watching it, these daysI could not stand to have it in the house. I feel sorry for the animals now - those women were boilers.

Animal Farm has to the most notorious film i remember from school. It was one of those films that all your mates had seen and you hadnt. I was 14 or 15 when i first saw and thought it was hilarious. I;m 22 and the thought of it now makes me heave.

The only other one i can think of is Scum which i didnt see until a year or so ago. All they ever did was go on about how that scene would never happen to them because the would back them in the balls and other s*** like that.

Animal Farm ???!??!?!?!!!???

Sorry. I had to go over to the IMDb and check nobody had snuck out a scary version I`d never heard of. Animal Farm (1954) Dir. John Halas and Joy Batchelor. Based on the book by George Orwell. Pigs take over a farm as a model of communism but before long you can`t tell swine from human. That Animal Farm?

Are you sure you don`t mean Animal House?

Do not be alarmed. That strange sound is simply
my mind boggling.

For me it was "Alien". After some of the 15 year olds managed to get into an "18" rated cinema (due to the fact that they looked a lot older) I wanted to see this after they had described the `alien from the stomach` scene.

Got my wish when I turned 18 and the school hired Alien for the 6 formers. The girlies screaming on that scene was eventful - especially as the boys replayed it again as it was unbelievable.

No, we definitely mean Animal Farm. It`s a legendary porno, involving humans and erm.. animals. I don`t expect it to be on imdb.com by the way. :D

I`ve heard about the notorious chicken scene by the way; is it real or actually a myth?
