After popping a few choice words into Google about the whole `flashing` thing, I think I wont bother.....looks like it causes all sorts of trouble. Also, can;t seem to find anywhere that explains how to do it.....did find a thread where a guy hassled VFone for a while and they eventually gave him an unlocked one. Might give that a go.

Just got a Sony-Ericsson S700i........

....and what a phone it is!

I have been a Nokia fan for a long time, and have hated menus of every other manufacturer and moaned whenever I`ve tried one blah blah non-intentional fanboy blah :D


UNTIL

My wife got her hands on a K700i and I must say that I loved it from the moment I started playing about with it...and I really can`t stress how much no phone has flicked an excitement switch before that one.......so,


I went into CWarehouse yesterday and was about to buy one - until the arm-twisting good salesguy said, "hang on Sir, what do you reckon to this?", as he handed me his S700i..... I was about to say that I don`t really do camera/mms/wap/crap and then I looked at the photo he`d handily left on the screen that was taken in the shop we were in and I said:

"Right then, where`s the dotted line?"


Fantasitc phone - much larger (chunk-wise) than I`d normally buy but IT`S A CAMERA - A REAL CAMERA!! 1.3 mpxl to be precise - and the screen is b.e.yewtiful. Truly stunning.

However, my warning for anyone toying with buying it is this:

Try to avoid Vodafone if you like the idea of an MP3 capable phone which you can use your own downloads etc as the ringer as it is a locked feature through them. I am well p***ed off as you can do it on any other network. They say that it`s a software problem between them and SE - I then said "well, I suppose that you`re able to download them through Vodafone Live?", thinking that they were probably being a bunch of robbing gits but no, that`s not even possible - it annoys me because what the hell is the point in having the option and then stopping it - for no good reason? I liken it to the annoyance I reckon I`d feel if I bought a car built by Ford but the heater/cooler buttons didn`t work: not integral to the car running but a very small luxury that is there to be used but `not allowed` by Ford, who disable it for life whilst Citroen, Honda, Peugeot etc all give it as standard......


Anyone who knows of any sites that can get round this problem or can help themselves, I would be greatful of any help you could offer - if no-one can help then I hope my rant can help someone out who was about to buy whilst under a (albeit small) misconception.....:D

I have just been in.......

....Las Vegas for a wedding - two of our close friends who really deserved the top top TOP affair that it turned out to be :D


Anyway, I really didn`t want to make the title of the thread as it is, as it really seems that I just wanted to make sure everyone read that I was there and think I was bragging. This really isn`t the case and I hope that my question will make you realise this......basically:


We have over a hundred pics (on a memory card thank god as a lot of them are blurred as hell or didn`t come out at all well - although I blame this on the ambient - or should that be kerr-app lighting in the Luxor and not the Kodak camera we took) and we have been sat here thinking of a really cool present (or so we think! ;-)) for their Christmas pressie which is this:


They really like to play cards - and I mean that they REALLY like to play cards, and so we wondered if any of you guys (even Caz is starting to warm to the advice from this site now that we have a great-for-the-money set up here for us to watch her cr*p films on!) knew, or know of anywhere we can get decks of cards made with some of the pics on.


I Googled it earlier and can find plenty - however, they all seem to be able to do either a) ALL of the cards with different pics or the same pic on each card. What we really want to get is:


Number Cards = Normal (ie 1 to 10`s)

Jack = Ian, the Best Man
Queen = Emma, The Bride
King = Ollie, The Groom

and.......

Joker = Me, the worst dancing `Usher` in town :D:D



Can anyone help at all?? We only got back yesterday and I am still a little shot away from the timezone changes and can`t get my head round it all!!

Read back through all of the threads (along the same `distateful` lines) on this site and listen to yourselves! You go looking, intentionally, for this type of thing - so you can go onto forums like this and moan, get a gang together and attack!


Yes, I agree that it`s in bad taste, but, for gods sake, what`s next? Walk down your local high street listening in to peoples conversations and then run to tell the police that you don`t like something you`ve overheard? Due to the fact that it `offended` you?


These people may well have a different set of values to you & I, but it`s not like they are sitting on your sofa and following you around telling you to think as they do!!


Sorry, pet hate of mine that. Just try and remember that some of the films us lot watch offend a huge amount of people - but we still come on here and heap praise on them.... I Spit anyone??

I bought a pack of Mini Cheddars and a bag of Twiglets to open for us to munch on with our drinks and my mate said...."hmm, Marmite. It`s made of Yeast Extract. What the f*ck is Yeast Extract? Is it yeast that has been extracted from something? If so, what? People with yeast infections? Or, is it something that is extracted from yeast? Again, I ask you what exactly would you extract from yeast?

Having a `mong` moment.....help please!!!

Done something and can`t figure out how to un-do it!!


Basically, I organised my favourites in IE and popped them all into folders....one of which was one that I didn`t really want seen *ahem* and accidentally hid a different folder - which has about 55% of my links in - and I cannot find where the hell I go to un-hide it.

I know that this is really simple but I`ve not done the hiding thing before and I was p***ed when I did it (I even remember thinking "I must remember where this tickbox is" when I did it, for Gods sake! :D) and the old `memory remover` certainly did its job :D


If anyone can spare ten secs...............

I missed it this time around, due to me taking the old man out to the pub........


...however, I made sure that everyone at work had promised me they`d watch it before they went home this eve.


I remember it being the most moving thing I`d ever seen, well, at least since I watched The Elephant Man.....before that it would have to be Watership Down when I was a little`un........and for a tv programme to move me as much as two amazingly, emotionally powerful films (a special well done is needed for someone who can make a cartoon about bunny rabbits so heart-ripping) is truly amazing.


He should be someone that they show to kids at all stages of school - a true inspiration......and possibly the one thing in my life that has ever made me so happy to be so lucky in life. And that has just come from the fingers of a guy who`s old man has had dementia for the last 8 years and who`s mother in law was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer a few years back.


Oh, and that cheeky Geordie acccent........chokes me just remembering......

Why don`t you like Barker? I`ve read most of his books and I have to say that he`s quite high up on my list of favourite horror authors....not quite King, but I prefer him to, say Koontz.....


...either way, £22.49 delivered from Play can`t be a bad gamble - if you don`t like it at least you have a top notch (although not build-wise, I can seee me having to glue the sides myself at some point soon!) dvd box for your shelf!! :D

For those who have recently received their Lament Configuration Boxset...your views??

I, for one, was drooling with anticipation whilst waiting for the arrival of the above....and on viewing all of the films (twice :D) this weekend, after not seeing them for a number of years, I have to say that I am over the moon that, finally, a set of horror films from my `growing up` years has finally managed to retain all of it`s atmosphere and `horror-ness` :D:D



I found all of them fantastically atmospheric, creepy and intelligent with it - a lot more than can be said for my other all time fave horror boxset (until Halloween gets here), the Elm Streets.....not that I don`t still love them, it`s just that they relied too heavily on their sfx which, in my opinion, meant that they were never going to be able to retain the full, scary effect over the years......again unlike Hellraiser and it`s two follow-ups (in fact it`s even mentioned in on the extras disc that Clive sees no point in touching up the effects as it would really have no efffect - I think he`s right too....it was filmed right in the first place.)


Just wondering what everyone else thought - especially those with good systems, did they do a good job with the sound?? My system is modest to say the least (you might have seen my set up on the previous Lament thread) and so it sounded great to me, but was it worth the wait? Will I need to get another version when I finally earn enough to upgrade;-)?

Of course it`s for financial reasons........would any of you out there like to replace the (necessary) income that they bring in to keep the site up and running?? Didn`t think so!!


The ads are, unfortunately, a necessary evil, and I`m sure that RJS doesn`t intentionally pick ones with malicious spyware/trackers included - it`s more likely that he asks the questions, gets the answer he wants to hear and then gets `done over` for want of a better phrase......


I must say that, since installing the Google Toolbar, I get hardly any - and SP2 seems to have done a stirling job of blocking all the ones that Google misses.....then, twice a week, I run Ad-Aware & Spybot and my system seems to be totally clean - my Norton hardly has anything to do these days - it hasn`t picked up anything new in over five months now :D

Only bought one this month and you`ll see the piccie of that in the Hellraiser - Lament thread (I think you can guess what it was!) as I lost my job a couple of months ago.....I had to take my Halloween boxset off order due to the immediate lack of funds!

However, I start a new job Monday and I will pop it back on backorder during my first lunchbreak as a `well done` to myself! :D



LOVING my solitary purchase so far though and will, no doubt, watch it many times this month so all is not lost 8)
